RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH DESIGN

The Quantitative Study is a type of Non- Experimental Research Design by which the group of samples is
not manipulated by the researcher to maintain the opportunity of each participating in the research
study. This research design involves the presentation of series of questions to which the qualified
participants responds to. The goal of the study is to describe the __________________________. This
will mainly focus on the average rate of Grade 12 students negating the exclusion of Filipino courses in
college and as well as the ability and knowledge of Grade 12 students on the Filipino subject.

SUBJECT OF THE STUDY

The respondents of this study were chosen the type of non- probability sampling, particularly as
Purposive or Judgmental Sampling. The subjects were selected based on characteristics of a population
and the objective needed of the study. The researcher used this type sampling to assure that the
subjects have enough knowledge to participate in every questions intended to be attained by the study.

DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT

 The instrument used was a researcher – made questionnaire checklist to gather the needed data
for the student’s profile. The draft of the questionnaire was drawn out based on the
researcher’s readings, previous studies, professional literature, published and unpublished
thesis relevant to the study. In the preparation of the instrument the requirements in the
designing of good data collection instrument were considered. For instance, statement
describing the situation or issues pertaining was toned down to accommodate the knowledge
preparedness of the respondents. Open- ended options were provided to accommodate to free
formatted views related to the topics or issues. In this way, the instrument is authorized to
obtain valid responses of the students.

The researcher used survey questionnaire as the data gathering instrument. The participants were given
a set of questions that seeks for specific information. It is divided into three main parts. The first part
contains the Respondent’s Profile that seeks for the name, (optional, age, sex, class section and
nationality of the participant. The Second part what’s on Your Mind? Aims to imbibe the respondent’s
ideas and mastery upon the issue. The last part Filipino Time includes eight statement questions that
will help on testing the ability and knowledge of the respondent’s about the Filipino subject itself.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

 The researches personally administered the research instruments to the respondents. They
conferred and discussed the significance of the study and accomplished the distribution of the
instruments properly. The respondents were given 15 minutes to accomplish the forms to
prevent them from giving hasty responses. The researches went from one section to another on
collecting accomplished questionnaires. After the questionnaires have been accomplished, the
results were tallied and tabulated. These data became the bases of analysis and interpretation.

All the necessary findings of this were gathered through research survey-questionnaire which has given
to all the Grade 12 students of ______and Grade School. The researcher conducted the data gathering
on _DATE_. Identify your sources of data. If a questionnaire will be used, explain what kind and how it
will be constructed if it is original, how it is pretested, distribution, retrieval, collation, etc. Since not all
Grade 12 students are around on the day of data gathering the researcher distributes the survey-
questionnaire through media and extended the process until _DATE_. After the data were gathered, the
researcher tallied, analyzed, interpreted, and formulated explanations of all findings accumulated. The
data gathering process took place in _PLACE_.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

 Responses to the questionnaire by SHs students were statistically analyzed with the data
requirements of the study. Students were statistically analyzed with the data instruments of the
study. Descriptive statistics such as frequency count, mean, percent and rank are considered.

The study received response the survey questionnaire from the __ respondents which was compiled of
__ male and __ female. The response was statistically analyzed with the requirements of the study.
After collecting the data needed for the study, the researcher tallied, graphed and analyzed the count,
percent, and rank is included.

The respondent profile as well as the answers from each question in the survey questionnaire
was determined and calculated using percentage and ranking.

The formula for Percentage is:

(P)% = x 100

N
F= Frequency, N= Total number of respondents, and P= Percentage.
