In the X Hospital in the Anggrek Ward was a patient named Mr.E. The patient has
been treated for 3 days in the hospital. Mr.E often feels pain in the abdominal, the pain
disappears. To overcome the pain the nurses practice breathing techniques in patients to
reduce pain.

Nurse 1 & 2 : “Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.” Is this true with Mr.E.

Mr. E & family : “Wa’alaikumsalam Wr. Wb, yes nurse.”

Nurse 1 : “Let me introduce my name is Diva and this is Findi nurses. We will teach

breathing techniques the purpose is to reduce pain. We deep breathing

techniques in a sitting position.”

Family : “Yes nurse, now my sister still feels pain.”

Nurse 2 : “Later procedure i will count 1 to 3 then Mr.E inhale through the nose then

exhale through the mouth.”

Nurse 1 : “For the contract the time is 5 to 7 minutes in this room. Do you have

something to ask. If it can’t i will start.”

Mr.E : “No, just start right away.”

Nurse 2 : “Like this, first later you take a breath through the nose and hold it in a

matter 1 to 3 then exhale through the mouth.”

Nurse 1 : “How is sir what is clear. Try now you did it.”

Mr.E : “Okay nurse, i will try it.”

Nurse 2 : “Inhale through the nose sir, hold on, 1.... 2.... 3.... exhale through the

mouth. Try again.”

Mr. E : (Try breathing techniques).”

Nurse 1 : “How sir. Has the pain lessened than before.”

Mr.E : “Yes reduced nurse, now i feel more comfortable because the pain is

reduced.”

Nurse 2 : “Okay sir, if the pain arises again you can do this deep breathing technique.”

Mr.E : “Okay nurse, if the pain appears again i will do it.”

Nurse 1 : “For a follow-up plan tomorrow at 10 a.m in this room i will come here

again sir to check the situation of you. We will to go back to the nurse’s

station.”

Family : “Okay nurse, thankyou very much in advance.
