Which of the modules/ topic(s) discussed in NSTP 01 would be most useful or relevant for
your NSTP 02 immersion? Explain and justify.

The NSTP 1 is the training camp for us to know what is our role as a youth in nation
building and how can we help the nation to be better. Our role as a youth, in the nation building
is under the 1987 constitution, the preamble to the rule 1 section 2, RA 9163 IRR where it
indicates that the state shall promote civic consciousness among them and shall develop their
physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being. It shall inculcate the ideals of
patriotism, nationalism, and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs. As the most
valuable resource of the nation, they shall be motivated, trained, organized and involved in
military, literacy, civic welfare programs and other similar endeavors in the service of the nation.
It tells that as a youth we shall be educated in a way we are all conscious, have a sense of
nationalism and give service for the nation. As a citizen we must defend the security of the state.
There are 3 program components the reserve officer training corps where it provides military
training to the students and teach them to be discipline and well prepared for national defense
next is the civic welfare training service which teach the student to be contribute to the
environment, health, education and etc. to the betterment of life and welfare of a society and
lastly the literacy training service we students are trained to teach children, out of school youth
to be academically inclined and us to teach literacy and numeracy to the youth. Basically NSTP 1
is our stepping stone because it taught as to be focus and analyze the thing especially related in
country’s societal issues which in this we formulate ideas and solution to assess a certain problem
in the country. In NSTP 1, we learned to aware that we are fully responsible in our society because
it is our role as a Filipino youth and it helps by carrying the heart of authentic Christian humanism
up to NSTP 2. Basically, in NSTP 2 we implement things: what we learned in NSTP 1, we execute
the activities and projects that is needed for the target group which is the Filipino community.
Like for example in LTS 1, we learned how to focus the situation of the educational system here
in the Philippines, then knowing its development we also learned the concepts and nature of
learning then after that we do immersion outside of the school and teach the community based
on the structured lesson plans, goals and more. Same-wise with CWTS 1, we analyze first the
problem and issues; then in CWTS 2 we implement our solution in societal problem. There are
many lessons and learnings that we get in NSTP 1 that we can apply in NSTP 2, first is the
Citizenship Training; citizenship training helps to know who really are we in the society, how do
we well know our country and how will we enjoy the privileges and participate in the process. In
NSTP 2, we need to know why do we need as a youth to do this kind of act for the society; what
is it purpose or simply do we really need to execute or follow it. We need to do it because we are
a Filipino citizen nothing more nothing less. In this semester, we must know that in NSTP 1
teaches us to implement the things as a Filipino citizen into NSTP 2. For example, as simple
following the heraldic code which it provides for the use of a National Flag, including its design
and specifications, hoisting, and display. It also sets parameters for the conduct of flag
ceremonies and flag days and the use of the flag for mourning and other purposes; and includes
prohibited acts against the flag. With this we learn the value of true spirit of Filipino Citizen by
following this act. Also, we must know the hoisting and proper display of flag and the proper half-
mast; the prohibitions such us using the flag as drapery, tablecloth, clothes and etc. is very
significant for us to know in order for NSTP 2 we can teach and apply how really Filipino must
be. Because being Filipino itself is easy but being a Filipino full-heartedly is hard and we must
start now for ourselves to disseminate the spirit of true Filipino Citizen. Also, we must learned as
Filipino to know what is our National Anthem, Panatang Makabayan, Motto and more. We must
also apply our learnings of knowing what is our rights as a Filipino; because knowing simply our
right help us to educate someone who is being exploited and being abuse. In NSTP 1, we learned
the Article III which indicates the bill of rights no one should deprived others life, liberty and etc.;
we can apply it in NSTP 2 by knowing and help other who is being deprived to educate other that
they have the rights to speak for their rights and so called “karapatan”. We must also practice
and know the Article V which is the Bill of Duties which indictates in the Section 3. “Citizens and
the State shall at all times respect the life and dignity of every human person and uphold human
rights”. We must respect one’s life and dignity. In Section 4. “Citizens shall participate actively in
public and civic affairs, and contribute to good governance, honesty and integrity in the public
service and the vitality and viability of democracy.” (Abueva, 2014). Abueva indicates that as
citizen we must practice integrity and good governance in the public service, we must be
somehow to be philanthropist in our society. Also, we must practice some little thins such as
follow traffic lights, don’t buy smuggled goods, speak positively of our race and our country,
respect your traffic officer, policeman, soldier and other public servants, do not litter and etc. by
this little thing we learned to be a Filipino which is one the basic fundamentals in the NSTP
program. One also can be relevant teaching of the NSTP 1 that can apply in our subject is the
dimension of the development which is the welfare, modernization, participatory and sustainable
development. We must know what kind of approach we must use for the society or in NSTP 2 in
general. For example, if we use the welfare or dole out we are only focus who is capable of doing
it which only the rich ones which is very limited in a sense; with modernize approach It more
likely doesn’t suitable for appropriateness, in participatory it is good but in only possible with
power in number; so, with this we knew suitable development is way more better with the three
because it looks into all aspect of development not just the environment, but almost all aspect
for the beneficiaries and for the common good. Being self-aware were being taught in us also
and can be applied in our class. It can help in NSTP 2 because being Self-Aware allows you to
understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in
the moment; we learn to control our emotion, behavior and behavior to know what you wanted
to change or having this kind of perception to initiate to change for the better same-wise with
your country. Having good values is very important also in inclined with NSTP 2 because having
this we may learned the principles on how we must act outside the street. Having this good
attitude in place like the term “cultural behavioral values”, you can’t act a rich kid with lots of
money while you’re in the act of immersion. There is a certain value you must show and use to
able to be accepted with the certain area. For example, if you are a benildean show that you’re
one of the benilde students by practicing and showing how the beildian expression or so called “
Lassalian core values” we must act the one with the plight of the poor and more. We must change
our values based on tis setting and what kind of values? It’s good values, which you do not
degrade others people feeling and etc. We must always remember the different faces of poverty,
we must know the deprivation in all aspect of individual life such as: Economic, Political and Socio-
cultural. This dimension shows the lack of resources and capabilities to act on its role in the
community. Which is very relevant nowadays, where people are more focus at survival than living
properly. So, we must be promulgated in way we must be sensitive what we are trying to say we
must practice that their culture and race are different so we must be careful, for example being
careful for the words you trying to say because it somehow hurt them. We must know how-to
live-in Poverty by living vulnerability, to live in constant insecurity, where you are unsure where
tomorrow will come or bring, being in the state of poverty is being weak mental state where
you’re dealing with anxiety, depression and etc. but having those problem it is not a hindrance
to live as a Filipino. And most importantly, the social analysis; with this we learned how society
runs. Social analysis is a systematic platform in analyzing and understand what a situation or
society does. I narrow sense we analyze so that is NSTP 1; so, we are in NSTP 2 making attempts
to change or solve the analyzed problems. There are different approaches and these 5 approaches
can help us to be informed and to quickly analyze one’s society, because basically you can’t solve
a problem without trying to analyzing it. The five analysis are historical, structural, class, gender
and environment. In history we tackle the analyzation time and existence of the reality or issues
before and after. The structural analysis part talks about the systematic whole where play role in
the society which we badly thing and needed for us to know. The class analysis shows the
structure where the social stratification which classify the societal classes; we must learn the
societal classes to be able for us to act on how we must act with, because some Filipino families
disaggregated by income class. For example, the Philippines economic structure which are the
Foreign Monopoly Capitalists (FMC), Big Business Bureaucrats, Landlord, Workers and Peasants.
Which play a big part for the Phil. Business structure. The Gender analysis, help us to determine
how to conceive or respect the gender inequalities and being sensitive for other gender and sexes.
And lastly, environmental analysis it is significant because we must be aware with extraction
process which is the natural resource and, in a way, it becomes exploitation which causes the
trashing the planet. So, we must be careful with it our environment while doing immersion. With
this, we must act properly what we analyze in NSTP 1 where we must create structure to build a
foundation to implement for the betterment of making solution with today’s society with moral
understanding.
