EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
CSR is the continuing commitment by the business to behave ethically and contribute to
economic development, while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families
as well as of the local community and society at large.
For long time in the past, profit maximisation was the sole business objective but this view no
more holds good. If companies want to survive and maintain growth in the market, if they want
to become market leaders, they have to sacrifice part of the profits in favour of groups other
than owners.
Social responsibility is important for every business. Economic criteria alone cannot justify the
existence of business organisations. Social, moral and ethical aspects of business decisions are
as important as economic aspects to judge the success of a business. A socially responsible
firm not only meets the needs of the society but also creates long-term and sustainable market
for its products.
The mission of the socially responsible organisation (SRO) is to influence the process of
developing and advocating socially responsible business practices, which benefit not only the
SRO and its employees, but also the greater community, the economy and the world
environment. SROs seek to reshape the way business is done in both for-profit and not-for-
profit areas.
It is a pandemic disease. AIDS cannot be compared to disease like malaria and cholera which
claim more live in country currently. It has a greater impact than other disease. The treatment
options are still in the initial stages and are prohibitively expensive. There are instances of
quacks taking advantage of the situation. This has compounded the misery of AIDS patients.
CSR should be core concern for all companies and part of each company’s operations. CSR
focuses on three dimensions of value creation; profit, people and planet. Companies should
make efforts to promote CSR throughout the value-creation chain that they are a part of. They
should take responsibility for the social, economic and ecological consequences of their actions
and also engage in dialogues with those who are involved in these dimensions.
IDF is a private, non-profit organization working in sectors such as health, education and
development. It was established by group of people who were highly motivated and committed
for contributing their time, skills and energies for the development of underprivileged children,
orphans and women to bring positive changes in their lives.

PART – I
INTRODUCTION
This study on HIVIAIDS for aware people from symptoms of HIV, reason behind HIV and
how to stop HIV. This study conducted for aware those people who suffer or not suffer from
HIV. This is spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency
virus. Spandan Charitable Trust provide clinical care, treatment and support to people living
with HIVIAIDS as well as health promotion and prevention services for individuals and
communities at risk of becoming infected with the virus. This NGO work to decrease the
impact of the social determinants of health and to increase access to prevention, care,
treatment and support.
Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome
(HIV/AIDS) is a spectrum of conditions caused by infection with the human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Following initial infection, a person may not notice any
symptoms, or may experience a brief period of influenza-like illness. Typically, this is
followed by a prolonged period with no symptoms. As the infection progresses, it interferes
more with the immune system, increasing the risk of developing common infections such as
tuberculosis, as well as other opportunistic infections, and tumors that rarely affect people
who have uncompromised immune systems. These late symptoms of infection are referred to
as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This stage is often also associated with
unintended weight loss.
HIV is spread primarily by unprotected sex (including anal and oral sex), contaminated blood
transfusions, hypodermic needles, and from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or
breastfeeding. Some bodily fluids, such as saliva, sweat and tears, do not transmit HIV.
Methods of prevention include safe sex, needle exchange programs, treating those who are
infected, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis, and male circumcision. Disease in a baby can
often be prevented by giving both the mother and child antiretroviral medication. There is no
cure or vaccine; however, antiretroviral treatment can slow the course of the disease and may
lead to a near-normal life expectancy. Treatment is recommended as soon as the diagnosis is
made. Without treatment, the average survival time after infection is 11 years.
During 2016, about 36.7 million people were living with HIV and it resulted in 1 million
deaths. There were 300,000 fewer new HIV cases in 2016 than in 2015. Most of those
infected live in sub-Saharan Africa. Between the time that AIDS was identified (in the early
1980s) and 2017, the disease caused an estimated 35 million deaths worldwide. HIV/AIDS is
considered a pandemic—a disease outbreak which is present over a large area and is actively
spreading. HIV originated in west-central Africa during the late 19th or early 20th century.
AIDS was first recognized by the United States Centre’s for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) in 1981 and its cause—HIV infection—was identified in the early part of the decade.
HIV/AIDS has had a large impact on society, both as an illness and as a source of
discrimination. The disease also has large economic impacts. There are many misconceptions
about HIV/AIDS, such as the belief that it can be transmitted by casual non-sexual contact.
The disease has become subject to many controversies involving religion, including the
Catholic Church's position not to support condom use as prevention. It has attracted
international medical and political attention as well as large-scale funding since it was
identified in the 1980s
NEED OF THE PROJECT
Achieving these aims will take years and we cannot run this campaign in a few months with
lots of publicity and little follow-up. Organisations have to do ongoing work on a long-term
campaign. Government concentrates on education, prevention, treatment, care and research
into vaccines. Organisations that lead in our society can:

 Reduce the number of new HIV infections (especially among youth) and
 Reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS on individuals, families and communities
 Placing high profile political leadership at the forefront of the fight against AIDS
 Increasing resources and building capacity at district level to manage, organise and
implement the HIV and AIDS/STD programme
 Training of AIDS coordinators in each province
 Providing HIV and AIDS life skills course for schools
 Establishing the South African AIDS vaccine initiative to develop a preventative,
affordable vaccine by 2005.
 Establishing the National AIDS Council, chaired by the Deputy President which
advises government on all
 aspects related to HIV and AIDS. Provincial AIDS councils have also been set up.
 Partnership against AIDS launched by President Mbeki in 1998.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To Identifying current research and guidelines that support the integration of HIV
prevention, treatment and care
 To create awareness of HIV/AIDS towards society, teenagers and others.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design :
The research methodology shall be descriptive in nature. The study shall be based on literature
and data with respect to historical perspective and present status.

Primary Data :
The primary data is based on the experience we gained by performing the activity assigned to
us for the fund raising for child education and women empowerment.

Secondary Data :
For the study purpose the data is collected by using various published sources. It’s proved
to be helping hand in framing up the industry scenario and also the relevant topics in the
entire project report.
Following are the sources from which I have collected my secondary data:-

LITERATURE REVIEW
This paper reviews HIV/AIDS awareness, knowledge and preventive methods in Ghana over the past
two decades drawing heavily on the 2003 and 2008 Ghana Demographic and Health Surveys (GDHS).
The review reveals that there is almost a universal awareness of HIV/AIDS in Ghana although there
are still some deficiencies in comprehensive knowledge of the epidemic. Nevertheless, there seem
to be some gender differences in the level of awareness since men have more knowledge on
HIV/AIDS including its prevention than women. Besides, it is revealed that knowledge of preventive
measures lagged behind awareness of the epidemic. In addition, male respondents between 15 and
24 years are more aware of the preventive measures than their female counterparts. Against the
backdrop that women are more affected by the epidemic than men, there is the need to intensify
the knowledge and preventive methods of HIV/AIDS especially among the women in their
reproductive age.
