working for about 30 years, the bread
shop set up its first premium Brand
bistro at the ground floor of the New
College Building East of Father Saturnino Urios University. The
bistro offers the exemplary successes of the organization just
as premium contributions of espresso refreshments and suppers.
The bistro is additionally an establishing individual from
Caraga Coffee Association, a network attempting to drive quality

INTRODUCTION

Operations management (OM) is the business function


responsible for managing the process of the creation of goods
and services. It involves planning, organizing, coordinating,
and controlling all the resources needed to produce a company’s
goods and services. Operations management is the central core
function of every company. This is true regardless of the size
of the company, the industry it is in, whether it is
manufacturing or service, or is for-profit or not-for-profit. In
line with the requirement for the subject Operation Management
and TQM, students were tasked to study a manufacturing business
in fulfillment for their Outcome-Based Education. According to
Markus (2019), a manufacturing business is any business that
utilizes raw materials, parts, and segments to amass completed
merchandise. Assembling organizations frequently utilize
machines, robots, PCs, and people to create the product and
normally utilize a mechanical production system, which empowers
an item to be assembled bit by bit, moving to start with one
workstation then onto the next. Assembling organizations can
sell their items straightforwardly to customers, to different
makers, to merchants or wholesalers.

The manufacturing company that the group of researchers has


chosen is Gold ‘n Pearl Bakery Café a combination of a café and
a pastry shop that calls the attention of people seeking comfort
by offering them delicious meals, cakes, bread, and drinks in an
affordable price. It is a premium pastry and coffee brand of
Gold ‘n Pearl Bakeshop. The business is owned by the family of
Geronimo A. Autor. It was established in the year 2015 in line
with the opening of the newly erected Father Saturnino Urios
University College Building which is where the business is
located. Until now the business is continuously running strong,
and Out of starvation for food and bond, a plentiful of
customers still go there to buy their products.

In particular,important topics from Operations Management


and TQM that would be suited to VCDU Prince Hotel were selected
and are detailed in the next chapter. The selected topics are:

1. Competitiveness, strategy and productivity;


2. Forecasting;
3. product and service design;
4. facility planning; and
5. Supply chain management.

Unfortunately just like all business Gold ‘n Pearl Bakery


Café has competitors and factors that can bring loss or damage
within their organization. Compared to previous times their
business is not that well-known to the market today –though some
of the consumers still prefer their shop, they are now
suppressed by bigger and more well-known entities of their same
type. But the main problem of the business is that their supply
of products is much bigger compared to the anticipated consumers
or buyers. Leading to spoilage of their inventories which can
create a loss on their part.
