RURAL ENTREPRENEURS
• Rural entrepreneurship means Rural industrialization
• Rural entrepreneurship is defined as entrepreneurship whose roots lie in the
rural areas but has a lot of potential to drive various endeavors in business,
industry, agriculture, etc. and contribute to the economic development of the
country.
• Rural entrepreneurs is the only solution to rural poverty and backwardness

RURAL ENTREPRENEURS IN INDIA


1. Sathish Kumar

• Founder of milky mist.


• Managing director of the Milky mist.
• In 2013-14 company has a turnover of 121cr and expecting 3000cr in 2000.
• In 2005 the company was stopped sale of liquid milk and instead started
production of khova and gee
• They are the largest producer of fresh paneer
• Their procurement of milk which stood at 40,000 – 50,000 liters per day in
2012 has touched 1.7 lakh liters per day now. This increase has spawned a
mini-white revolution in the districts of Erode, Salem, Tiruppur, Coimbatore,
Namakkal and Dindigul, where they buy milk directly from an estimated
25,000 farmers.
• Farmers are getting Rs.5 more per liter since the commission to middlemen 
has been eliminated. 

2 . Gina Joseph

• Founder and chief designer Zola India


• Gina Joseph is part crafts revivalist and part jewelry designer.
• Her jewelry designs cater to the modern contemporary women who wants to
make a statement or to express her individuality.
• She collaborates with rural and folk artisans across India to give their art a
new life through a contemporary form and expression.
• She won the times of India’s fashion segment in Chennai
2. PC Musthafa
• Born in a small village called Chennalode in Wayanad
• He came up the idea of ID Fresh (idli dosa batter) and with an investment of Rs
25,000/-
• ID Fresh is now a 100 Cr company producing 50,000 packets a day with 1,100
employees
• ID Fresh is that it recruits people from rural areas providing them with wide
opportunities to succeed and grow in life
• Musthafa has been the recipient of many prestigious awards like India Today -
Make in India Award, JCI National Award, Vocational Excellence Award and
Entrepreneur India Award, among others.

4. Sheetal Mehta walsh

• Founder of shanthi microfinance a social enterprise provides access to


technology and capital for entrepreneurs in slum and villages in India.
• Focused on microfinance in developing and developed countries
• Shanti Life’s provides loans that are capped with low interest rates.
• Sheetal has received several awards: Asian Women of Achievement: Social
and Humanitarian (Prince Charles and Cherie Blair) for her efforts on taking
technology to developing communities in India and Africa (2005)
