I am meeting Cameron at a high-end café in Canary
Wharf in London, I sit down and wait for a few min-
utes taking in the dim yellow lights that bounced all
around the room, the marble and cream coloured tiles
on the floor and walls and the black and brown wood
used for the chairs and table. Thankfully, it had been
a quiet winter’s day. Cameron’s outfit was very urban
but smart as the same time. He was wearing a red
shirt with tie and black jeans, he had a black cap with
the red letters “VENICE” on it. It was clear that he
was slightly nervous during the start as this had been
his first face-to-face interview, I shook his hand, sat
down and we started talking.
So how is your day so far?
Today is going well, it is being quite busy with all the
production and video work. As we were filming late
at night and in the morning, it takes lots of time to get
the best quality and camera angles to feature on the
album. Being in front of the camera doesn’t sound as
fun as expected but the end product is worth all the
trouble.
How is life evolved in these few months, particularly
music wise?
The success and fame have changed my entire world
really, nothing has been the same since those singles
have released. I am talking about constant tweets, arti-
cles and call to appear on talk shows. It was a pleasant
surprise and a weird feeling that people actually care
what I do and what is going on in my career. “Youth”is
particularly special to me as it focuses on how I felt
in certain parts of my life, mainly as a young teenager
growing in the projects in Brooklyn with many of my
friends in a close community.
Who has inspired your music and your growth?
Since I never know my parents it was my uncle who was
a musician himself, he played multiple instruments like
guitar, piano and drums at nightclubs, bars and for special
occasions like weddings or birthday parties. So, I used to
go to an afterschool music club without his knowledge
where I learned to play various instruments, learn to
read and understand musical notes.

learned more jazz and blues which extend my musical taste and
knowledge.
Who would you like to work with in?
I would like to work with Logic as he is quite unique plus
“Confession of a Dangerous Mind” is one of my most favourite
tracks of the year and is really interesting. There are so many
great artists to choose from or be partner up with as everybody
has different styles and I wish to work with as many as I can in
the upcoming years.
Any upcoming projects or new music expected?
Oh yeah, I am working on my second album currently as I re-
ally wanted to hit the ground running as my track record could
be better. I am working the great Kendrick Lamar on two songs
who is a great pleasure to work with and a wonderful musical
talent. Not giving anything away but I am itching for you to see
the end result.
Where did you get your stage name from?
I used read lots of graphical novels, comic books and of course
music. I was particualry interested in the tales of Greek gods as
my teachers used to talk about them in History. One of them
nicknamed me “Apollo” as i got a A* on an exam and it just
stuck with me.
How did your family and friends react to you pursing a musical
career?
My uncle was concerned naturally I had finished college
the year before, I knew in my mind I want to do something
creative in the music industry and saw a future career in this.
He is still happy and always awaits to listen to anything I
am involved. My friends were confused as I had quite good
grades in all my subjects They said I sould “follow my dreams
as the future is uncertain”. I knew hard work and determenta-
tion wins in the end.
Advice to others chasing their dreams, especially in the music
industry?
Wow, what a question! I believe that having faith in
yourself and your abilities as you can do spectacular
things through hard work and determination. Having a
clear goal and surrounding yourself with a supportive
group of individuals who be honest and offer help when
needed. Also that there are many roles to filled in this
business.
