Lady of the Pillar College- San Manuel Inc. in relation on taking an
action to save our nature.

ABSTRACT

The proposers request for the Solid Waste Management at Our Lady of

the Pillar College- San Manuel Inc. Clean learning environment can

make a good and habitable learning environment for the students. This

project will be such a great help in minimizing the waste produced by

the school, making the students be aware with its importance, and

lastly, in enhancing their skills in some ways of saving the

environment that they can share to the future generations. The work

will proceed as processed: (1) Waste characterization and Segregation

(2) Collection and transport of Solid waste (3) Recycling Program (4)

Composting (Construction of compose pit) (5) Coordinate with the local

government and school’s administrator to ensure that this project will

be implemented.

I. INTRODUCTION

A. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Garbage and other solid waste pose a threat in the campus and

are attributed a risk in the learning environment of the

students. The proposers come up a proposal on how to deal with

the waste by proposing a solution which is to practice Solid

Waste management around the school premises. Safe and proper

solid waste management practices can develop environmental

responsibility towards students and administrators of the school

on caring and saving our nature.

B. STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE

Through the Waste Management at Our Lady of the Pillar College-

San Manuel Inc., the proposers hope to achieve the following

outcomes:

1. Students will be able to develop knowledge, attitudes and

skills in making their surroundings clean and environmentally

friendly;

2. Students will be able to focus on overall goal to reduce,

reuse, and recycle waste material at the campus;

3. Students will be able decide on their own to take an action to

save our nature;

4. Students are able to gain knowledge and understanding to the

importance of waste management to save the Earth;

5. Students will learn to value the natural world and understand

how humans and the environment interact;

6. Students are able to learn the consequences and risks of not

caring on nature;

Specifically for this project, the immediate outputs are:

1) Approximately 70% of waste produced by the school will be

minimized.

2) Approximately 90% of the students will able to reflect the

significance of saving the environment for the future of the next

generation.

3) Approximately 95% of students have attended seminar about Solid

Waste management orientation to develop their skills and make

awareness about caring the environment.

4) Approximately 80% of the students will learn better by having a

conducive environment.

C. SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This particular project ensures the continued provision of the

following activities for Solid Waste Management at Our Lady of the

Pillar College- San Manuel Inc. to ensure the cleanliness of the

campus to be effective and better learning environment for the

students. The proposal focuses on the implementation of waste

management around the school with the help of the officers,

advisers, administration, and LGUs or the Collector and Transport

of Solid Waste Team of San Manuel. The proposed project doesn’t

cover the nearby areas around the school.

D. PLAN OF WORK

The work will proceed as processed:

1. Waste characterization and Segregation

2. Collection and transport of Solid waste

3. Recycling Program

4. Composting (Construction of compose pit)

5. Coordinate with the local government and school’s administrator

to ensure that this project will be implemented.

The proposers will be in-charge of the projects’ implementation

under the direct supervision of the adviser. The adviser will ask

the Director to directly supervise and monitor the propose

activity with the help of the officers and advisers; SSG, SSC,

Classroom and Departmental Officers and (LGU) Local Government

Unit of San Manuel, Isabela.

Monitoring, assessment and evaluation of the program will be

carried out through the following: (1) SSG officers are in charge

in checking the rooms for basic education every day, they will

report whether rooms are clean or not into the SSG adviser (2) SSC

officers are in charge in checking the overall area and will give

report to SSC adviser and to the Director, likewise, they are in

charge in collecting plastic bottles that can be sold or used –

the savings will be used to purchase additional equipment (3) LGUs

or the Collection and Transport of Solid Waste Team of San Manuel

will collect trash once a week, every Fridays or Saturdays (4)

Proposers will check the compost pit whether it is in the good

state or not, they will look what may add or change here.

There are weekly reports for SSG, SSC and administrator. A

quarterly assessment/meetings will be conducted by the school

Principal and the Director together with the proposers. The SSC

treasurer will also submit quarterly financial and progress

reports of this program.

E. BUDGET OR COST ANALYSIS

The following table show the approximate amount of money needed to

carry out the proposed activities:

II. CONCLUSIONS

Proposer subscribes to the perspective that sustainability is

defined as not only for the lack of resources and management, but

also the extent of public support and right knowledge. The

sustainability of the project is anchored on the following:

Development and enhancement of knowledge, attitudes and

capabilities, and the waste management, the partner SSG Officers, the

LGUs, and other society groups to support programs and services for

the safe or protection of a habitable environment.

Continued partnership with the different society groups, other

NGOs, SSG Officers, and SSC Officers as well as active involvement

and participation in different Waste Management Program.

Awareness raising with the SSG and SSC Officers to take on the

responsibility of actively advocating at the School for Clean

Environment and to participate/facilitate in the different

organization of Waste Management and implement cleanliness programs

and services.

Develop cleanliness in the school premises to have a habitable

and safe environment for learning. Not only for cleanliness but also

the leadership of the different organizations on how they will manage

a good and clean environment by taking in charge of the waste

management.

Continued to protect health, well-being and the environment by

providing reasonable measures for:

a. minimizing the consumption of natural resources;

b. avoiding and minimizing the generation of waste;

c. preventing pollution and ecological degradation;

d. securing ecologically sustainable development while

promoting justifiable economic and social development;

e. promoting and ensuring the effective delivery of waste

services;

f. achieving integrated waste management reporting and

planning;

g. to ensure that students are aware of the impact of waste on

their health, wellbeing and the environment; and

h. generally, to give effect to section 24 of the Constitution

in order to secure an environment that is not harmful to

health and well-being.
