General Objectives At the end of Form 4, students should be able to write

informal letter with correct format.

Learning Outcomes At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Identify the format of informal letter.

2. Write an informal letter.

Content Informal letter

Prior Knowledge Students have learned the following contents in

previous classes:

1. Argumentative writing

2. Report writing.

Values 1. Love

Skills Involved Writing skill

Instructional Aids Personal bracelet, A4 papers, whiteboard, markers.

Set Induction Teacher will show her personal bracelet and tell a

story about the bracelet that has been given by her

mother.
Content Development Step 1

Students are asked to discuss in pair and identify the

format of informal letter in 5 minutes. (ELO 1)

Step 2

Students are given a piece of A4 paper and are asked

to write a letter to their mother. Time allocated is 15

minutes. Once completed, teacher will pick students

randomly to share their letter to the class. (ELO 2)

Step 3

Students will have to submit their letter to the teacher

to be marked. Once finished, teacher will pass the

letters back to the students to be given to their mother

on Mother’s Day.

Conclusion Teacher concludes the lesson by reminding students

with components of a good letter.

Evaluation of Learning Outcomes 1. Students are to discuss with their partner to

identify the format of an informal letter.

2. Students are given 15 minutes to write a letter

to their mother.

official or personal purposes?
