The belief that transfer of learning is highly possible has become a personal impetus as I
pursue this profession. I have always been appreciative with my crucial role as a teacher in the
teaching-learning process. I believe that my guidance and supervision would greatly contribute
to the development of every learner entrusted to me. I am a teacher who is more than willing
of becoming a reliable support to my learners. As the theory of proximal development suggest,
teachers should be the scaffolds of learning. Scaffolding consists of the activities provided by
the teachers, or more competent peer, to support the learner as he or she is led to his or her
maximum potential. Support is tapered off or withdrawn as it becomes unnecessary, much as a
scaffold is removed from a building during construction. The student will then be able to
complete the task on his own and this for me is the idea of a genuine learning. I am most
fulfilled when my learners are able to acquire new competencies and perform problem solving
independently every after our learning task and discussion.
I believe that education enables individual to learn and acquire vital skills and
competencies significant in creating a successful and bountiful life. I believe that students
should continually be thought and be empowered to solve problems similar to those they will
encounter in real life and instill in them the skills necessary in becoming flexible problem
solvers in preparation for their adult life. It is important that I always incorporate lessons and
discussions relevant to types of my students and the society that they are in.
