Please Pay Per Capita
Your Finance and Stewardship Committee is again
asking the membership of Firelands Church for your
support to please consider making a donation of $35.00
per member to help us cover our Per Capita asking from
the Maumee Valley Presbytery. The approved 2020 Per
Capita of $35.70 is broken down into the following:
General Assembly $8.95, Synod of the Covenant $3.25
and Maumee Valley Presbytery $23.50. This year our
total apportionment is $3,177.30 based on a
membership of 89.
Membership and Friends again thank-you for your
financial commitment for administrative year 2020. Our
contribution to the Maumee Valley Presbytery Per Capita
asking is a sign of our support and grace that keeps us
together as a body of Christ in Northwest Ohio and
Southeast Michigan

Committee
As we turn to the task of raising funds for our church life
and ministry together in 2020 the Finance and
Stewardship Committee is grateful for all that God has
done among us financially in 2019 allowing a great
spiritual program. Thoughtful, dynamic worship and
music week-in and week-out. Relevant and engaging
faith formation for all. Sturdy and growing relationships
with our mission partners. Numerous opportunities for
fellowship and connection with one another. Intentional
and careful maintenance and improvements of our
building and grounds.
Thru the end of December 2019 our Total Income YTD
was $164,986.84 vs. a budgeted Income of
$162,000.00. This produced an over budget amount of
$2,968.84 YTD. Total YTD Expenses of $161,779.49 vs.
our budgeted Expenses of $159,382.98 produces an
over budget amount of $2,396.51 YTD 2019. Our total
YTD Income minus our YTD Expenses results in a net
gain of $3,189.35 YTD 2019.
A recognition that we are a work in progress, that God’s
Spirit is calling us forward and challenging us as
Stewards of Jesus Christ. The Finance and Stewardship
Committee says THANK-YOU for your continued financial
support.

Highlights of the 1/14/2020
Stated Meeting of Session
1. Received and approved Treasurer Vicki
Wheatley’s Financial Report.
2. The 2020 Church Budget was approved by
Session.
3. 2019 Firelands Church General Fund income was
$164, 968.00 vs. the 2019 budget of $162, 000
and 2019 expenses were $161, 779 vs.
budgeted expenses of $159, 382 for a net
General Fund surplus of $3, 189.
4. Pastor Mark’s Terms of Call for 2020 were
approved by Session.
5. Firelands Church has been invited by PC (USA)
to become a “Matthew 25” church. Session is
exploring this possibility (the Congregation is
welcome to review details on this program on
the PC (USA) website).
Mission Committee
Thanks to all who donated coats for Salvation Army to
provide to the community. Bataan School often
contacts SA for warm items during the winter months,
so our mittens, hats, coats, etc., have been delivered to
the SA office in Sutton Center.
Please note any new "pin-ups" on the Mission bulletin
board as you are passing by. Thank yous and pictures
are displayed as they are received.
Ash Wednesday is February 26 and that will kick off our
annual mission effort for "One Great Hour of Sharing,"
Repairing the Breach.
Please remember our new opportunity for Sunday
Brunch at Bistro 163 on the third Sunday of the month
from 9:30 to 1:00. This is a great opportunity to meet
with friends after church while supporting the Bistro in
its work for the food insecure in our community.
Sunday, February 16 will be the next brunch. Also, the
Bistro's community dinner will be held Monday, February
10, from 5 to 7 p.m.
