1-Describe the ‘Bradford’.


Ans: Bradford is a city located in West Yorkshire, England. It has a population
about 490,000.
2-Why is Bradford called Bradford?
The city's name is derived from two Old English words - 'brad', which means
broad, and 'ford' - the name for a crossing point of a river which is still in use
today.
3- What is Bradford known for?
Ans:Bradford rose in the 19th century as an international Centre of textile
manufacture, particularly wool. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution,
rapidly becoming the "wool capital of the world"

4-Explain the importance of Bradford canal and why it was closed?

The Bradford canal opened in 1774 and was the main means of transporting the
city’s products until the coming of the railway. The canal closed in 1992 when
most of it was filled into make ways for new roads.

5-How Bradford became a town?


Ans: By the middle Ages, Bradford had grown into a small town. Most of the
farmers reared sheep, and local people spun and wove into cloth in their homes.
Setup of factories and new industries helped in changing the Bradford from village
to town.
