RATIONALE

The Department of education (DEpEd) implemented the K to 12


basic education in 2012.This program includes the Senior
High School which refers to thelast two years of the K to
12 program or grades 11 amd 12. Republic Act No. 10533
(Enhanced Basic Eduation Act of 2013) states that students
have to finish six years in high school, before a high
school diploma can be obtained and for them get a college
education.

The k to 12 is a relatively new program here in the


Philippines if you compare it withour neighboring countries.
For students to move into college or the university level,
they must undergo junior (Grades 7-10) and senior (Grades
11-12) high school level in order to be given a diploma. A
certification is given during junior level but finishing
senior high level certifies and validates that a student is
qualified for college. In line with the goal of k-12
program, the schools are charged to cater the needs of the
st
students in order to develop their 21 century skills so
that they will be able to meet the demands of the
interchanging society. Such skills include their ability to
think critically and creatively, establish a good
communication, and collaborate with others meaningfully.

In addition, the program aims to produce quality graduates


with sense of leadership, initiative, productivity, and
social skills. Which include in choosing the right strand,
track and school for incoming Senior High School students
gives a lot of pressure, and questioning the qualities of
each and the worse thing of this issue is, picking the wrong
choice. Taking the track that totally not fit into you, will
make you suffer more. In this study, the researcher aims to
help to incoming Grade 11 students on choosing the right
choice that will fit them, enable for them succeed.

Going into senior high school, students must choose a strand


and track they would like to take for the nest two years in
their senior high school life. There are different strands
and tracks students can choose from which can also help them
choose a course they might want to make in college. Given
that this is big decision, a lot of thinking must be done
when deciding. Here is a basic guide that can help you
choose the right academic track and strand. There’s a lot of
school who offers senior high school and also include a
Different tracks, a. Academic Track (AMB,STEM,GAS,HUMSS) b.
Technical Vocational Livelihood (Agri-Fishery Arts,Home
Economics,Industrial Arts,ICT) c. Sport Track and d. Arts
and Design. And the most hard thing is to choose what
track,strand that will fits you.

In research,one of the main problem when it comes to


deciding is, some people mistakenly believe that only one
perfect careers the share the same characteristics . instead
of seeking one work path that seems like a perfecr fit,
therefore, it’s important to investigate a variety of
options that have features in common.

There’s a lot of choices that we are counting on, to make


our decisions right. In this study, the researches will
gather data to answer the “what’s” in our mindsuch as, most
successful strand, best school offers good education,best
strand to fit in, etc.

The researchers aims to improve the society by helping the


incoming Senior High School students to pick up the right
choice that will fit them, enable for to succeed and make
the society more.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

The purpose of this study was to find out from senior high
school students what problems they face, and then to
classify and interpret the response so that those who are
responsible for educational planning will have a better
background for functional planning. This study is an attempt
to find out the common difficulties that high school
students encounter. Specifically, this will seek to answer
the following questions:

1. What are the advantages that the respondents have been


experience? In term of different kinds of tracks:
1.1 Academic track
1.2 Sport Track
1.3 TVL Track
1.4 Arts and Design Track
2. What are the advantages that the respondents have been
experience? In term of different kinds of track.
2.1 Academic track
2.2 Sport Track
2.3 TVL Track
2.4 Arts and Design Track
3. What track in Senior High School would give a good
competitive citizens?
4. What are the coping mechanisms of the students regarding
the said difficulties?
5. Is there a significant difference between the four tracks
in senior high school students in terms of:
3.1 Gender
3.2 Subject difficulty

HYPOTHESIS
The following research assumptions will guide and it was
advanced for this study:
1. There is no significant difference in terms of subject
difficulty and gender towards the four tracks.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will going to conduct in helping the incoming


Senior High School students in deciding the individual.

For the Students, the researchers aims to help incoming


grade 11 students to decide and choose what track, strand
and school fits them. Also, for them to know the coping
mechanisms they should try on, in terms of studying. It
will also give them a competitive citizens and make the
society more better in the future generation.

For the Teachers, this may serve as a bridge for them to


offer quality education also for them to have connection
in the situation of their students and to have an idea
how to help their students to improve their individuals
in studying.

For the Society, this study may help students to choose


the right track or strand that fits them that may lead to
success and help our society grow and be wealthy. Not
only the society but also the government, community and
every individual person in our country, if they only pick
the best choice.

For the Parents, this research will help the


guardians/parents of the students in guiding them in
every decision making, also to have more connection in
their child by knowing their hardships and success.
For the Future Researchers, this study may serve as a
reference or a basis in developing various inquiry-based
approaches in the teaching-learning process, and in
enhancing the said technique for future use.

INSTRUMENTS

The device that the researchers will going to use in the study is
one of the most common thing that is used in collecting data
which includes survey and interview by throwing the questions
that the researchers will provide such as rating the list from 1-
5, and check list, where they’re to check the things that showing
how they agree the with the sentence. They will also going to use
paragraphs for the respondents to understand the study better.

PARTICIPANTS

Participants of the study include 50 students from the 1st ∧2nd

Batch of k-12 graduates( from their former school) here in Subic


Zambales, in each strand 10 students from every school. In total,
50 students from zambales that participated in our research. The
method of sampling that the researchers will going to use is the
stratified random sampling to make it easier, the researchers
will goingto divide their respondents into small groups. It’s
important characteristics is the age and grade level because they
have their own diverse perspectives and opinions with the study.

DATA COLLECTION PLAN

The questionnaire will structure in such a way that respondents


will be able to answer it easily. Thus, the set of questionnaire
was structure using the likert format with a five-point response
scale. A likert scale is a rating scale that requires the subject
to indicate his or her degree or agreement or disagreement to a
statement. In this type of questionnaire, the respondents will
give five response choices. These options served as the
quantification of the participant’s agreement or disagreement on
each question item. Below are the designated quantifications used
in questionnaire:

DATA ANALYSIS

To answer the statement of the problems, the data is going to


examine by the researchers to come up with the results using the
questionnaire method, interviews ad observation. Item analysis
will going to use to determine the result of the study Frequency
and Percentage Distribution will going to interpret the scores of
the students on their answer in the questionnaire Mean difference
will going to use to measure the absolute difference between the
different strand and tracks.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

These terms are conceptually and operationally defined for better


understanding of the readers.

K-12 – these grades anr kindergarden(K)and the 1st through the


12th grade (1-12). If the term were used,”13th grade” would be the
first year of college.)

Academic Track – it will prepare you for college courses from


which you can choose a lot of options.

Technical Vocational Livelihood Track – if you crave to work


right after graduating from K to 12 Track and strand.

Sport Track – prepares you to become a fitness trainer, gaming


official, tournament manager, recreation attendant, masseur or
gym instructor.

Arts and Design Track – students under this track must also have
adequate to advance skills in the arts. This track,in
particular.includes old and modern art, and the means and
channels of multimedia,production, and creative fields.

Accountancy,Business and Management(ABM)Strand – the accountancy,


business and management, corporate operations and all things that
are accounted for.

Science,Technology,Engineering,and mathematics(STEM)Strand – is
an educational program developed to prepare primary and secondary
students for college and graduate study in the fields of
science,technology,engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand – the HUMSS strand


is designed for those who wonder what is on the other side of the
wall.
