OKOWA INSPECTS MORE KEY PROJECTS


O n M o n d a y, J a n u a r y 2 0 t h ,
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa stated
that the Court of Appeal Complex
for the Asaba Division would be
inaugurated on February 3 2020.
He stated this during the
inspection of the ongoing complex
located at Mariam Babangida Way,
Asaba.

Governor Okowa also inspected


the Traditional Rulers Council
secretariat project and stated that
its completion would provide a
conducive environment for the
traditional rulers to discuss issues
concerning their kingdoms.

DELTA STATE EXCO APPROVES 11 NEW ROADS FOR


CONSTRUCTION
On Tuesday, January 21st, the Delta State
Executive Council approved 11 new
roads in the state for construction.

The Commissioner for Works, Chief


James Auguye, disclosed this yesterday
while briefing newsmen at the end of the
state's Executive Council meeting in
Asaba.

Some of the approved roads are: Oniore/


High Court road, Orerokpe; Obi Azikwuo
Street, Boji Boji, Owa; Alika Street in Boji
Boji, Owa; Ogbeima internal roads in
Bomadi LGA, Okerenkoko township road
Phase 4 and Pamol Road in Ethiope West
LGA.

LASSA FEVER: DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT TAKES


ACTION
On Tuesday, January 22nd, the Delta
State Government allayed the fears of
residents in the State over the incidence
of recorded cases of Lassa fever at the
Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.

The Delta State Commissioner for Health,


Dr. Mordi Ononye, made this known
today when he briefed members of the
Press on the emergence of the disease at
the Zonal Office of the Nigerian Institute
of Medical Research, Asaba.

Dr. Ononye assured Deltans that there


was no reason to panic as holistic
mechanisms are already in place to
sensitize the general public on how the
disease can be contained effectively.

NATIONAL CALIBRATION TEAM INSPECTS ASABA


INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
On Tuesday, January 22nd, the National
Calibration Team comprised of aviation
engineers from the Nigerian College of
Aviation Technology (NCAT), Nigerian
Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)
and Nigeria Civil Aviation
Authority( NCAA), visited the Asaba
International Airport.

The engineers visited the facility to test


and calibrate the airport’s NAVAID
systems; Instrument Landing System
(ILS); and, Very High Frequency (VHF)
Omni-Directional Range (VOR) to ensure
that the airport’s safety was in-line with
international standards.

DELTA STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD ANNOUNCES


STUDENT SPECIAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FOR 2020
The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship
Board has announced that online
registration for the 2019/20 Students Special
Assistance Scheme (SSAS) is now open for
students from Delta State who are attending
tertiary institutions across the country.

The Scholarship Board disclosed that the


registration commenced on 20th January,
2020 and will end on 20th February, 2020.

Applicants must have registered with the


N a t i o n a l I d e n t i fi c a t i o n M a n a g e m e n t
Commission (NIMC); be in 2nd year or above
in Universities or Colleges of Education and
have a minimum CGPA of 2.20. All eligible
students are to log on to
www.dsbsb.dl.gov.ng to submit their details.

FG, DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT TO COLLABORATE ON


METHANOL FUEL TECHNOLOGY POLICY
The Federal government has agreed to forge a
strategic partnership with the Delta State
Government to tap from the large gas deposit in
the state through the exploration of the newly
unveiled Methanol Fuel Technology Policy.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr.


Ogbonnaya Onu, said this when he received
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in his office on Thursday,
January 23rd in Abuja.

Governor Okowa stated that Delta State has been


working to effectively utilize its natural gas
resources — through the proposed establishment
of the Kwale Industrial Park.

Governor Okowa further emphasized that Delta


State will continue to discuss and strategize with
the Ministry to ensure Methanol Fuel is effectively
used to benefit the country.

DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT COMMEMORATES ‘INTERNATIONAL


DAY OF EDUCATION’
On Friday, January 24th, the Delta State
Government joined the world to celebrate
“International Day of Education.”

This year’s theme which was “Learning for


people, planet, prosperity and peace”
further re-affirms the State Government’s
commitment to the importance of education
to its people.

The Delta State Government will continue to


create an enabling environment for learning
and a conducive atmosphere for children to
get quality education to prepare themselves
for the future..

OKOWA INAUGURATES PROJECTS IN ISOKO NORTH AND


SOUTH LGA
On Saturday, January 25th, the Delta State
Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, reaffirmed his
commitment to rendering selfless service to
Deltans while inaugurating five projects in Isoko
South and Isoko North Local Government Areas
of the state.

The projects, inaugurated were Opute Hall, Ozoro;


Ultra Modern Civic Centre, Uzere; Model
Secondary School, Uzere; Students Hostel at the
Delta State University, Oleh Campus and six 3-
bedroom bungalows for visiting Lecturers at the
university.

“We are committed to providing adequate service


to our people and we will remain focused,”
Governor Okowa said, “I am glad that all the
government agencies are responding favourably
to the needs of all our various communities.”
