It gives me immense joy to write for yet another issue of Nth Degree. Keeping up the tradition, the
students have put in their best efforts to publish the magazine which serves to fulfill their creative
and artistic urge. It reinforces the importance of art and culture in an engineer’s life. Nth degree is
published towards the end of the year, when we happily sit on the achievements of the year gone by
and make plans for the future. By now we have analyzed our performance of the past year and are
ready to move ahead with renewed vigor to take on new challenges.
It is worth mentioning that the past year has brought great glory and acclaim to the Institute. It won
accolades for its outstanding contribution to engineering education in the country. The Institute was
placed at 3rd position amongst Private Universities and at 26th amongst top 50 Engineering / Technology
Institutes in the country by EDU-RAND in 2015. Similarly, Higher Education Review awarded us
‘University of the Year’ accolades. T he students, our brand ambassadors, are scaling new heights of
success and redefining the notion of fame with their entrepreneurial skills. It was a feeling of great
honour and pride when Saket Modi, one of our alumnus and a young entrepreneur, was nominated by
‘Forbes India in 30 under 30’ category, drawing attention to his exceptional work in the field of
technology. Dr. Hemant Purohit , another alumnus, was appointed an Assistant Professor in George
Mason University, USA in tenure position, which reflects the academic grill that the students go through
in their training at the Institute.
All this has become possible through a dedicated team effort of the faculty and hand holding by the
Director of the Institute. Because of this joint effort, we have been able to map an exponential growth
in academics. We have filed papers for NAAC accreditation, and are looking forward to the visit of the
NAAC team to the campus. Next in line is NBA accreditation. Besides, we have added new programmes
and consolidated the existing ones. Mechanical Engineering program was started in 2015 with an intake
of 30 students. We have initiated admissions to the M.Sc. programmes in Physics and Mathematics in
the academic year 2016, which is a step towards strengthening our already vibrant PG programme.
Tuning in to the best practices of prestigious universities, we plan to introduce the minor streams and
specialization courses from the next academic year. Acquaintance with an additional stream besides
the main study programme provides an edge to a student pursuing higher education or a career in
industry.
To attract good students, we have introduced several benefit schemes. Merit scholarships are awarded
to meritorious UG students and Merit cum Means Scholarships have been initiated for the economically
backward students. Many students get benefitted through these schemes. These scholarships act as
incentives for students to augment their academics. Meritorious students are facilitated to complete
their degree in seven semesters and take up semester long internships in their final semester. These
internships in reputed companies provide them an industry experience and an edge over other students
during placements. So far the placement statistics has been encouraging this year, with 91% of the
registered students having been placed successfully with the highest package of 25 lakhs and the
average package going up to 4.95 lakhs.
We are guided by our vision to provide quality education to our students. Towards that end, we have
tied up with MNCs like Microsoft and IBM which impart quality training to the students. To enhance
employability of the students, we facilitate their training through courses on SAP and soft skills. To
streamline academic processes, we have set up various committees like Class Committee (CC), Quality
Assurance Research Committee (QARC), Quality Assurance in Teaching Committee (QATC) and to
monitor overall progress, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) comprising senior and competent
faculty members. We engage in social causes at multiple levels in diverse domains. With
multidimensional progress, we are definitely heading towards a promising future. I welcome you and
invite you to join hands and be a part of that future by playing your part in it.
Thank you.
