Materials: Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Bravo
Baby 185, 3-3-3-4-4 balls [150-150-150-200-
200g] #01054 light blue and 2 balls [100g]
#01001 white.
US 3-5 [3-3.75mm] and US 5-6 [3.75-4mm] nee-
dles and circular needle 16“ [40cm] long and five
dpn, plus one smaller auxiliary needle,
for the pants hat elastic to fit waist 2 times.
Rib pattern A: *K1, P1, rep from *.
Rib pattern B: *K2, P2, rep from *.
Stockinette stitch: K RS rows; P WS rows; in rnds
K all sts.

Intarsia pattern: Work star foll chart, 1 square =
1st. Use a sep ball for each col, twisting yarn at
back of work when changing cols.
Work rows 1 to 46 once.
Gauge: With 3.75-4mm needles and St st 24 sts
and 34 rows/rnds = 4“ [10cm].
INSTRUCTIONS
With 3-3.75mm needles and light blue cast on
for one leg 50-60-70 sts and work ¾“ [2cm] rib
patt A. With 3.75-4mm needles and St st work
2 rows light blue, then *4 rows each white and
blue, rep from *.
Cont even until work measures 51/8-6¼-7½“
[13-16-19cm]. Cast on at each end 1 st once,
then in every 2nd row 2 sts 2 times, then leave
the 60-70-80 sts on a holder.
Work 2nd leg in the same manner. Now cont
across all sts in rnds = 120-140-160 sts. For side
shaping mark 2 center sts of each leg and after
16 rnds dec 4 sts altog as foll: Work to 2 from
marked st, then sl1k, K1, psso, work the 2 marked
sts in patt, then K2tog = 116-136-156 sts.
Rep these dec in every 12th rnd another 3-3-4
times = 104-124-140 sts. Cont even until work
measures about 125/8-145/8-16½“ [32-37-42cm],
after 1 rnd light blue. Cont even with light blue
and rib patt A until work measures 13¾-15¾-
17¾“ [35-40-45cm]. Bind off all sts.
Finishing: Block piece to measurements, cover
with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
Sew leg and crotch seams. On inside of upper
band insert 2 rnds hat elastic to fit waist.
With two 3.75-4mm dpn make the decorative
cords as foll: Cast on 4 sts, then *slide sts back
to the other end of the needle, pull yarn up
slightly and K4, rep from *.
Pull cord in length from time to time to distribute
stitches more evenly. When cord measures 195/8“
[50cm] pull yarn through rem sts and darn away.
Insert the cord through rib sts of front on either
side of the 4 center sts and make into a bow (see
photo).
