Motivation
2

To have an ease of control over single inverter driven parallelly

connected induction motors for industrial applications.

Objective
3

To control the parallely connected induction motors with direct vector

control.

Introduction
4

Induction motors are extensively used in various applications ranging

from industrial motion control systems to home appliances. However,
the use of induction motors at its highest efficiency is a challenging
task because of their complex mathematical model and non-linear
characteristic during saturation. These factors make the control of
induction motor difficult and call for the use of a high performance
control algorithms such as vector control.

Methods of Speed Control
6

Scalar control
1.Stator side control
I V/f control or frequency control
I Changing the number of stator poles
I Controlling supply voltage
I Adding rheostat in the stator circuit
2.Rotor side control
I Adding external resistance on rotor side
I Cascade control method.
I Injecting slip frequency emf into rotor side

Superiority in DC-Motor control
9

I In separately excited DC-Motor the field flux and armature flux

are 90 degree apart.
I The field current only controls the field flux and the armature
current only controls the armature flux.

Analogy of vector control with DC-Motor control
10

DC-Motor-like performance can be achieved if the motor is

considered in the synchronously rotating reference frame(d-q) where
the sinusoidal quantities appear as dc quantities in steady-state.
