Death is universal and inevitable meaning we are all going to die and no one can escape from it.

It is our
endgame for our life were just borrowed from God. As catholics, we firmly believe that when we die, our
soul separates from our body and will then stand before God for judgment. The point here lies on the
question "What happens when we die?"

The cathecism teaches us that everyone receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very
moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ which is either entrance into
the blessedness of Heaven through purification or immediate or everlasting damnation in hell. This
teaching clearly means that when we die, our soul stands in judgment immediately. We will have to
account for ourselves, for the good that we have done and for the sins we have committed. We call this
the particular judgment because it is particular to each person. If we are free of all sin and the hurt
caused by sin, we immediately will be welcomed into Heaven, where we will enjoy the beatific vision,
seeing God face to face. If we have died with venial sins or the hurt caused by sin, our Lord in His love
and mercy will first purge and heal the soul in the place called Purgatory. After this purgation and
healing, our soul will then be welcomed into Heaven. However, if we have died rejecting God, with
mortal sins and with no remorse for those mortal sins, then we will have damned ourselves to Hell. The
firm rejection of God that we made in this life, will continue on in the next.

Death, as stated in the previous chapters, knocks on our doors unexpectedly and surprisingly. We will
never know when is our time. We cannot just sit and wait for it over our balcony. We should start doing
good and refrain from doing things that could oppose His will. By living a good Christian life, we shall be
welcome in Heaven which I find really great, living good in heaven with Him as a reward of the good
deeds I did while living.

The other judgment is the last judgement, the resurrection of all the dead, both the just and the unjust.
This will be the hour when all who are in the tombs will hear the Son of man’s voice and come forth,
those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection
of judgement. The last judgement will reveal even to its furthest consequences the good each person
has done or failed to do during their earthly life.

Upon reading the article, I got to think of many things and came up with some realizations. Death is
inevitable, I know, but this article made me dig on its deeper meaning and think of what really happens
when we die. The bible teaches us that at the end of time, He will come again in hlory to judge the living
and the dead but there is no need for us to be surprised and to be afraid of this for we know that "those
who have done right shall rise to life and the evildoers shall rise to be damned" and we know in ourseves
that we lived our life according to His will and the way He lived His life.
