Statement of the Problem

Playing computer games is one of the trends of youth nowadays and it

causes many disadvantages mostly when it is overused and played too much.

But at some point, there are also advantages that we can get through playing

computer games.

This research attempts to find answers to the following questions.

 How do computer games affect a student’s academic status?

 Why are computer games addictive?

 How do computer games distract students?

 What are the reasons why students play computer games?

 What are the positive effects of computer games?

 What are the negative effects of computer games?

Purpose

We are conducting this research to prove if computer games have positive

or negative effects to students. Conducting this research will let us know the

cause and effect of computer games to students. Another purpose of this study is

to gain knowledge and to help students what computer games to avoid, what

games would be beneficial, and how long students should play.

Significance of the Study

This research will help readers to understand about the effects of

computer games to student’s academics.

This study will benefit the following:

Students. This will be giving information on the harmful effects of games for our

health and social life. This will also help students realize the bad effects of

playing computer games, and at some point, encourage them to lessen their time

in playing and spend more time studying harder to achieve their goals and

dreams.

Teachers. This study is important to teachers to help them educate their

students about the positive and negative effects of computer games to their daily

lives.

Parents. This study will be helpful to parents because it gives information about

common issues of students in dealing with computer games. This will serve as a

guide on how to distinguish if their child is addictive with it or not.

Community. This study will help to avoid addiction to these. This will also help

us to distinguish early symptoms of computer game addiction and give early

remedy.

School. This study will help to improve student’s life style and make them realize

and differentiate the good and bad effects of computer games to student’s

academics, psychosocial life, attitude, and their daily lives.

Future Researchers. This study may serve as a basis for future research and

study that they will conduct.
