QUICK OPERATING GUIDE FOR VITALAB SELECTRA JUNIOR

TECHNICAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT

NOTE:
Upon turning ON the analyzer, the operator must first perform CUVETTE ROTOR BLANK.

I. TO START PHOTO CALIBRATION

a. Click on F5 (Special Function)


b. Then click on F1 (Rotor/System)
c. Double click Blank Rotor
d. Confirm execution by clicking F2

II. TEST REQUISITION

a. Click on F8 (request Samples)

b. To Perform Reagent Blanking


i. Click on Sample Type
ii. Select Blank
iii. Select all test to be run

c. To Calibrate Test
i. click on sample type
ii. select calibrate
iii. select test to calibrate with the check on the box towards the left of the test’s
name
iv. click F8 (New Sample)

d. To perform QC
i. click on sample type
ii. select control
iii. select tests to include in QC list
iv. click F8 (New Sample)

e. To run samples
i. click on sample type
ii. select normal
iii. enter sample / lab ID number & sample name. Include sex, date of birth &
name of Doctor if needed
iv. select tests to perform
v. click F8 (New Sample)
III. LOADING SAMPLES

a. after test requisition, click on F9 (Load Sample) to confirm test sample positions
b. double click on samples one by one or select test and press enter key for each
sample. An indication number noting position will appear on the left of the table
c. click on F3 to confirm load. This will start analysis of tests. Or F2 to select samples
you wish to unload. Or, if a previous batch of tests is still indicated on the sample
rotor and you wish to reset the rotors position, click on F4 to confirm unload of all
previous sample positions.
d. To print current worklist (Samples/Tests to be perform), click on F1 (Print worklist)
e. Make sure to run reagent info before confirming load to make sure there is sufficient
reagent for all requests.
IV. TO VIEW/EVALUATE RESULTS

a. Click on F7 (Evaluate Samples)


b. Click on each test samples to view each test results
c. Click on F7 to select between graph mode or normal test result mode
d. Click on F10 to return to Main Menu

V. TO PRINT TEST RESULTS (from F7 evaluate results)

a. Click on sample name


b. Click on F1 (Print)
c. Otherwise, all tests are automatically after tests run

VI. TO VIEW REAGENT INFO

a. Click F9 (Load Sample)


b. Click F5 to view reagent information
c. This menu indicates volume of reagent remaining as well as the number of tests
allowed with the remaining volume.

VII. TO VIEW QUALITY CONTROL GRAPHS / DATA:

a. From main menu, click on F6 QC


b. You make select to view the Levey-Jennings graph or actual cumulative data
obtained.

VIII. TO VIEW BLANK / CALIBRATION INFORMATION:

a. From Evaluate Samples, click F3 Blk/Cal Info


b. List includes blank absorbances, calibration absorbances and calibration factors.

IX. TO TURN OFF THE ANALYZER:

a. CLICK ON F10 (Main Menu)


b. Click on F10 again to Exit
c. Click on Windows Start menu and select Shut Down. The computer will shut down
automatically.
d. Turn off cooling system by clicking on coolant and pump buttons.
e. Turn off the Selectra Jr by clicking the power button behind the analyzer

NOTE: When the analyzer is turned off, the cooling unitis also shut down. Thus all reagents that
require refrigeration must be stored at the same temperature after turning off the instrument.
