PART 1: GENERAL
1. DESCRIPTION
This part shall describe the system to be delivered and has to be in accordance with contract
documents.
2. QUALITY ASSURANCE
This part shall describe the quality of the products (if any). It will be better if the manufacturer of the
wires and cables are with the same with the manufacturer.
3. STANDARDS

A. PS
B. PEC (2017)
C. Rubber Insulated Wire and Cables: IPCEA S-19-81, NEMA WC 3, and UL 44.
D. Thermoplastic Insulated Wire and Cables: IPCEA S-61-402, NEMA WC 3, and UL 83.
E. Annealed Copper Wire for Conductors: ASTM B-3.
F. Terminal Blocks: UL 1059.

4. FIELD TESTING
The following points may be included in the specification sheets of bid documents;
A. Inspect splices and terminations and make mechanically and electrically tight prior to final
acceptance of the work.
B. Feeder and branch circuit insulation shall be tested after installation, and before connection to
fixtures and appliances.
1. Tests shall be performed with a 1000 volt megger and conductors shall test free from short
circuits and grounds.
2. Conductors shall be tested phase to phase and phase to ground.
3. Furnish the instruments, materials, and labor required.
C. Demonstration: Subsequent to wire and cable installation and connection, energize circuits and
demonstrate functioning in accordance with contract requirements. Correct deficiencies and
retest to demonstrate compliance.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
1. ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
This enumerates list of acceptable brands/products for each device.
2. WIRES AND CABLES INCLUDING CONNECTORS SPECIFICATIONS
This part should specify the specifications of wires, cables, and their associated accessories to be used
in the project.

3 phase: 3 wire + Ground
Phase A – Red, Phase B – Yellow, Phase C – Blue, Ground - Green

B. Control wiring shall be color coded in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

PART 3: EXECUTION
This part shall describe how the installation should be done. Examples of such are as follows;
1. Provide minimum 5.5mm2 wiring for 220 volt 20A (or as per indicated in the load schedule), branch
circuits exceeding 50 meters in length from panelboard to furthest outlet.
2. Do not install wire until raceway systems are complete.
3. Provide cable supports for vertical risers.
4. Wire size shall be uniform for the entire length of the circuit unless noted otherwise.
5. Do not splice feeders or dedicated branch circuits unless otherwise indicated.
6. Make connections, splices, taps, and joints with solderless devices, mechanically and electrically
secured.
7. Lubricate cables to facilitate pulling. Lubrication material shall be inert to cable and raceways.
8. Install compression connectors with hydraulic die, embossing die code into connector. Connect to bus
with Belleville type washers for positive pressure over complete contact area. Insulate with heat
shrink tubing.
