Warm greetings from The Red Whistle, JCI and UNP!

The Red Whistle is a collaborative platform for people to come together and show
their support to those living with HIV and AIDS. It is also an agent and partner for brands to
show their support to HIV and AIDS advocacy.

As HIV advocates, The Red Whistle aim to empower and inspire people to come
together and help each other in the battle against HIV and AIDS. Using pop culture as a way
to change mindsets, we hope to start discussions among the youth so that they will sound the
alarm and spread the word that HIV is here — and that it must be stopped.

The Junior Chamber International is a nonprofit organization of young active

citizens age 18 to 40 in more than 100 countries who are engaged and committed to creating
impact in their communities. Here in the Philippines, thousands of members have united to
create sustainable impact in their respective communities and as one of its accredited Local
Organizations, JCI Candon Gold Leaf gathers active citizens from all sectors of society. JCI
members take ownership of their communities by identifying problems and creating targeted
solutions to create impact.
The Philippines is facing an alarming rise in HIV infection. Apart from the
growing number of newly diagnosed Filipinos, there are also reports of undocumented HIV-
related deaths, a manifestation of the invisibility of the epidemic and its
impact. Evidence indicates that the increase is driven by the lack of awareness and
appreciation of the risks of HIV infection due to unprotected sex, which is aggravated by fear
and stigma that surround the virus and the people living with HIV and AIDS.
In connection with this, we are planning to conduct an HIV Awareness Program
in the Province of Ilocos Sur dubbed as “#SaveSexy”. We intend to do this during the
Kannawidan Festival 2020 particularly on February 3, 2020, which coincides with the LGBT
Day of the Province. This will be in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Ilocos
Sur, The Red Whistle, Junior Chamber International – Candon Gold Leaf and
University of Northern Philippines – Gender and Development Office. May we then
humbly request for your help and financial assistance for this project to become successful.
