Risk mitigation Unknown Farmer Risk - We usually do not work with
policies: individual farmers. Every farmer we engage is
always a part of a larger community, like a
cooperative or association, duly verified by the
local government. The farmers are usually
required to sign an agreement and the
cooperative or association guarantees them. We
also engage Extension service agents who
monitor the farmers' production activities from
planting to harvesting.

Weather Risk - Apart from the fact that we will

plant crops that fit each season and weather
conditions, the crops will always be insured. We
have partnered with Leadway Assurance to
insure all uncertainties that may arise as a result
of bad weather conditions. This cost will be
included in the total amount to be provided by
partners as cost of inputs.

Pest Risk - Pesticides will be used in the process

of farming and the cost will also be included in
the cost of inputs. Farmers are also provided
with access to agriculturist to infuse best
practices in pest prevention/mitigation. Crop
insurance also covers damages from pests.

Market Risk - In order to eliminate this risk, we

usually sign off take agreements with potential
offtakers before we start production. These
agreements will usually help protect us from
future price uncertainties.

than 600 micro lenders to invest over $600K in
simple and affordable for everyone. more than 120 verified and trusted farmers who
are scaling fast to become commercial farmers.

These farmers have provided 128 paid

internships for unemployed youths. Money and
buyers are not everything, we use data, industry
knowledge and network to find the right farmers
that have potential to go to scale and work with
them to identify resources and expertise needed
to scale their farms to a commercial size.
Farmers apply for fixed term loans and
individuals and organizations around the world
can invest in these loans. EZFarming provides a
modern way for people to invest in each other
and succeed together in both financially and
socially rewarding ways.

EZFarming idea started on January 10 th 2015

when our CEO (Adewale Oparinde, PhD) was just
returning from an agricultural research work trip
to two countries in Africa (Nigeria and Rwanda).
On this faithful day, he received a request from
about 20 unemployed youths from Africa asking
him to help them find a job. This was the Aha
Aha moment that gave birth to EZFarming to
empower smallholder farmers to scale their
farms fast into commercial sizes and thus
enhancing their capacities to provide
employment opportunities for unemployed
youth in Africa.

With his research background, Dr. Adewale

didn’t jump right away into implementation
without testing. He commenced a pilot research
in 2016 on the concept with 300 smallholder
farmers in Oyo State, Nigeria. Findings from this
first pilot testing confirms that the best route for
intervention into Africa agricultural value chain is
to quickly scale more small farms into
commercial sizes. Let’s create more commercial
farmers!

EZFarming marketplace is supported by leading

agricultural research institutions, world
renowned agricultural experts and leading
investors including 500 Startups in San Francisco,
Young African Professionals in Washington DC,
International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in
Nigeria, Impact hub Lagos and Dr. Howarth
