Arauco is the leading forestry company in South America and one of the world’s largest
forest products companies in terms of plantation holdings, kraft pulp, lumber, and panel
production. This accomplishment has been achieved through its extensive forest
resources, extensive industrial facilities within Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and through
its world-wide sales offices located in Europe, Asia, México, Perú, Argentina, Brazil and
the United States.
Forestry Resources
Arauco owns and manages 1,873,000 acres of plantations across South America. Our
vast, fast growing timberlands give the company important competitive advantages in
today’s demanding global market for wood products.
Environmental Protection
Nursery
Arauco has made major strategic investments in forestry research in order to maximize
the quality, productivity and yield from its plantations.
Arauco´s laboratories, nurseries and greenhouses experiment with technologies to make
improvements that are applied to the more than 45 million seedlings planted each year.
Sustainable Plantations
Aware of the long term importance of its timberland resources, Arauco follows a
sustainable forest management policy. This policy ensures that Arauco will always have
a reliable, high quality wood fiber supply for its high quality products.
Plywood Mills
In 1995 Arauco decided to enter the Plywood manufacturing business and began
construction of a new plant, which started production in 1997. Located in Arauco’s
Horcones Industrial Complex, panels are produced in different grades for appearance,
structural, forming, and multipurpose uses for many diverse applications.
Towards the end of 2000, a second production line was added to the Horcones mill
which increased total annual capacity to 356.000 m3.
In 2003, Arauco started construction on a new plywood mill located in its Nueva Aldea
industrial-forestry complex in Chile’s VIII Region. Capacity will be 210.000 m3 per year
in its first stage. The plant started operations as planned in November of 2004.
Versatility
Strength
Strength coupled with light weight is obtained thanks to the attributes of Arauco´s
improved, plantation grown Radiata Pine wood.
AraucoPly manufacturing uses the latest available equipment and technology in
peeling, drying, composing, pressing, trimming and sanding of plywood.
High Quality
AraucoPly offers the highest level of workability on the market, lower weight, lower
wood resin content and better machinability.
Solidness and light color of faces makes it ideal for staining and other surface
finishing.
