NATIONAL PEANUT BOARD SEEKING NOMINEES - Nominations election meetings have been set to select two nominees each
for member and alternate from each area to serve on the National Peanut Board. All eligible producers are encouraged to participate.
Eligible producers are those who are engaged in the production and sale of peanuts and who own or share the ownership and risk of
loss of the crop.
The Alabama Peanut Producers Association will hold a nominations election on Thursday, February 6, at the close of the
AL-FL Peanut Trade Show at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds, Dothan, Ala. Tom Corcoran of Eufala is the current Board
member and Thomas Adams of Newville is the current alternate.
The Florida Peanut Producers Association will hold a nominations election on Thursday, February 20 during the FPPA
annual meeting. The meeting is at 7:00 p.m.at the Jackson County Agricultural Complex and Conference Center, 2741 Penn Avenue,
Marianna, Fla. William Carte of Live Oak is the current Board member and Jeremy Rolling of Westville is the current alternate.
The Mississippi Peanut Growers Association will hold a nominations election during the MPGA annual meeting on
Tuesday, January 28 at 4:00 p.m., at Lake Terrace Convention Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza, Hattiesburg, Miss.
Joe Morgan of Hattiesburg is the current member and Lonnie Fortner of Port Gibson is the current alternate.
The North Carolina Peanut Growers Association will hold a nominations election on Friday, March 6; time and place to
be announced. Dan Ward of Clarkton is the current Board member and Ray Garner Jr. of Roanoke Rapids is the current alternate.
The Virginia Peanut Growers Association will hold a nominations election on Wednesday, February 26 following the state
peanut production meeting at the Workforce Development Center, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin, Va. Paul RogersIII of Wakefield is
the current Board member and Westley Drake of Newsomb is the current alternate. The terms for the current Alabama, Florida,
Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia members and alternates expire Dec. 31, 2020.
USDA requires two nominees from each state for each position of member and alternate. The National Peanut Board will
submit the slate of nominees to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, who makes the appointments. The National Peanut Board
encourages inclusion of persons of any race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation
and marital or family status. NPB encourages all persons who qualify as peanut producers to attend the meeting and run for
nomination. It is USDA’s policy that membership on industry-government boards and committees accurately reflect the diversity of
individuals served by the programs.
CCC TO SELL PEANUTS - Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) invites offers to purchase Peanuts in-store for unrestricted use in
accordance with the terms and conditions of Invitation No. 17 - Peanuts. Offered for bid is 667 tons of Virginia type from Cox
Processing, LLC in Clarkton, NC and 2,692 tons of Virginias from Carolina Nut Whse in Mt. Olive, NC. Offers must be received by
12 PM CST on January 27, 2020.
