INTRODUCTION

Regular attendance in school is essential for the student’s academic

achievements, language development and social improvement. Students who attend

school regularly can be successful in their future professional lives through achieving

work- related skills such as persistence, problem-solving and the ability to work with

others.

Indeed, numerous studies conducted answer the question, “Why students miss

classes?” There are many factors that contribute to this absenteeism but the major

reason given is the financial difficulties.

Therefore, applications of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory to classroom

teachers must be observed. Needs lower down in the hierarchy must be satisfied

before individuals can attend to needs higher up. Before a student’s cognitive needs

can be met, they must first fulfill his basic physiological needs. A hungry student will

find it difficult to focus on learning. As well as attending classes knowing that the

allowance rendered to him by his parents can be spent at home for the food to eat by

his siblings.

This is the common situation in Senior High School which must be given special

attention and intervention in order to attain the DepEd vision.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

This study will be undertaken to profile the socio-demographic status of Grade 12

Senior High School Students towards attendance intervention.

Specifically, it will seek to answer the following questions:

1. What is the mean level of the learner’s socio-demographic status in terms of:

1.1 mother’s monthly income

1.2 father’s monthly income

1.3 number of dependent siblings

1.4 type of accommodation

1.5 size of the family

2. What is the frequency of learner’s absences due to financial shortage?

3. Does the Income Generated Pastry Production affect the student’s monthly

attendance?

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The study will focus on the profiling of learner’s socio-demographic status

and attendance review towards the implementation of attendance intervention for

Grade 11 Senior High School students in Nagcarlan Senior High School.

The Nagcarlan Senior High School is having eighty on (81) student

population who are taking Technical- Vocational and Livelihood Track, Home

Economics Strand specialized in Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Beverage

Services , Local Guiding and Tourism Promotion.

The researchers will profile the Grade 11 learners’ socio-demographic

status to evaluate the parents’ monthly income, the number of dependent siblings,

the size of the family living in the house and their type of accommodation. The SF2

or monthly attendance will also be analysed . These will be the bases of Attendance

intervention which will be Bread and Pastry Production primarily limited to five (5)

most indigent learners.

RESEARCH METHODOLGY

This contains the details of how the research was conducted. It explains

the procedure in collecting and analyzing data, and also describes the

sources of data.

A. Sampling

The simple survey form and SF2 will be the instruments to be used by the

researchers as the bases for the Attendance Intervention. The five (5) most

indigent learners with frequent absences will be the primarily sample since

there is limited starting fund for the Bread and Pastry Production.

B. Data Collection

After the approval of the School Head, the researchers, the researchers with

the help of the Advisers will distribute the questionnaires to the chosen

respondents. The results were then gathered, tabulated, computed applying the

needed statistical treatment and analyzed for the conclusion.

Data Collection and Research Procedure

Step 1 Securing Permit to conduct the study from the District Office

Step 2 Preparation of the Survey Form

Step 3 Validation of the Survey Form by the Statistician

Step 4 Seeking approval from the School Head to distribute the

questionnaire
Step 5 Distribution of the questionnaire to the respondents

Step 6 Gathering of the questionnaire from the respondents

Step 7 Tabulating the results

Step 8 Computing the result using the needed statistical treatment

Step 9 Analyzing the result for the Pastry Production Implementation

Step 10 Implementation of the Income Generated Pastry Production

Step 11 Analyzing the result for summary and Conclusion

Step 12 Plan for the Recommendation based on the result

Data Analysis

This includes how the data will be analyzed. It will specify the

quantitative method that will be used in analyzing the data gathered.

Basically, it is the process to be performed by the researchers to understand

the data which will serve as the basis of the claims or conclusions.

Research Instrument

The researcher-made survey form will be employed as a part of the

instrument in gathering the data. This will aim to generate assessment

among the respondents of the study.
