The  Miracle  in  Cell.  No  7  was  a  Korean  movie  about  a  loving  Father  named  Lee  Yong
Goo,  who  is  mentally  impaired.  But  even  though  he  has  a  disability,  he  still  takes  care  of  his
little  daughter.  People  with  mentally  dysfunctions  has  a pure heart that even though they were
punished,  hurt  their  feelings  by  others,  and  misunderstood  by  many,  they  still  love  those
people  harmed  them.  This  movie  represents  how  badly  people  with  disability  were  treated.
People  like  Mr.  Lee  Yong  Goo  do  not  have the voices to speak out for themselves. They couldn’t
even protect themselves to those selfish people.

Yeseung’s  father  gets  wrongly  accused  due  to  the  corruption  of  court  and  he  ended  up
getting  in  jail  in  cell  no.  7  wherein  he  becomes  friends  with  his  fellow  inmates.  At  first  his
cellmates  didn’t  like  him  but  as  soon  they  got  to  spend  time  with  the  accused  father  they
realized  that  he  is  actually  innocent.  They  wondered  why  would  a  father  who  treats  his
daughter  lovingly  be  able  to  murder  and  rape  a  girl  who  is  also  a  daughter  to  someone  else?
What’s  downhearting  about  this  movie  is  that  the  father  was  up  against  the  commissioner
because  it  was  the  commissioner’s  daughter  that  died.  This  movie  hurts  me  a  lot,  especially
during  the  time  that  they  were  in  the  courtroom,  Mr.  Lee  Yong  Goo  was  psychologically  and
mentally  abused  by  the  commissioner.  His  daughter’s  determination  made  her  go  into  the
prison  just  to  be  with her loving father even if she knew it was wrong. There was no justice that
happened  that  time  while  Ye-seung  was  still  a child; however, when Ye-seung became a lawyer
she fought to claim that her father was innocent and to clean her father’s name.

The  movie  is  very  heartwarming  and  teaches  us  about  family  values,  especially  the
relationship  of  a  father  and  a  daughter.  It  also  shows  us  that  in  reality  our  justice  system  are
corrupted  and  biased,  especially  when  you  are  up  against someone who is highly powerful and
rich  you  cannot  do  anything.  I  personally  think  corruption  happens because money talks right
now.

Questions:

1. What are some natural laws visible in the relationship of father and daughter? Mention
them and explain.

It is only natural for parents to provide love and care for their own child or children. The
natural laws visible in the relationship of the father and daughter includes providing the needs
of his child, giving her the love needed, and making his daughter happy. All these things are
only natural for parents to follow. Therefore these are automatically what parents should do.

2. What are some of the man made laws that are violated in relation to the case and
accusations to the father? Mention them and explain.

Some man made laws that are violated include: Article III, Sections 1, 12 and 17. The first
Section talks about how no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without
due process of law, nor shall any person be denied the equal protection of the laws.
Which means that no one shall be penalized to death or killed without looking for proof,
The twelfth states that any person under investigation for the commission of an offense
shall have the right to be informed of his right to remain silent and to have competent
and independent counsel preferably of his own choice. If the person cannot afford the
services of counsel, he must be provided with one. These rights cannot be waived except
in writing and in the presence of counsel. And last but not least, the seventeenth states
that no person shall be compelled to be a witness against himself. Just as what the
previous lawyer of Mr. Lee Yong Goo, he forced the mentally impared father to lie on
the court just to ensure his daughter’s safety. Therefore, he was forced to die in
exchange for the safety of Yeseung, his daughter.
