Chapter III

Research Methodology

This chapter presents the design of the study. It includes the description of the
research methodology, subjects the information gathering instrument, the procedures in
discovering details, and the statistical measures utilized in the treatment of data points.

Research Method

The object of the study and the nature of the results demanded the use of
the descriptive method. Therefore, the observational method of descriptive research
was employed. The samples were selected through convenient sampling in which the
participant refers the researcher to other who may be able to potentially contribute or
participate in the study.
Descriptive research includes all those studies which purport the present
prevailing status of things, object, and sets of conditions or any phenomena. It is an
organized attempt to analyze, describe and present the status of the groups, area, or
social institution.
The research method is appropriate in this study because the researchers
will collect data to confirm how to improve the self-efficacy of students with learning
disabilities.

Locale and Population of the Study

The subjects of the study were 23 students from Grade 7-10 Junior High School
Students with learning disabilities in reading enrolled during the first semester, S.Y
2019-2020 at Labrador National High School, Labrador, Pangasinan. A total sampling
technique will be used to regulate the number of student respondents involved in this
study.

Data Gathering Instrument

The particular tool that will be used in this study is a guide questionnaire. The specific questions
provide for students, either in writing or spoken verbally, while they are working on a task. Asking
guiding interrogations allows them to transfer to more outstanding levels of thinking by providing
additional open-ended support that calls students attention to key details with being prescriptive. The
guide examinations will be answered by the respondents.
The particular instruments utilized in the gathering of data gain an interview on how to increase
the self-efficacy of students with learning disabilities in their academic performance. Moreover, it will
have confirmed by the concerned persons of Labrador National High School.

The guide questions on increasing self-efficacy of students with learning disabilities consist of more than
five (5) investigations with follow-ups regarding the junior’s attitude towards academic performance. We
equally manipulated primary data. Those represent the data that come from the respondents’ direct
answers to the interview. Secondary information additionally operated which remains the documents,
reports and related studies. In the shallow draft and final reports, the minor sources and used titles of
the secondary information are supposedly provided.

Data Gathering Procedure

During data collection, the concerned researcher critically observed ethical standards in
controversial research, including consideration of confidentiality of the sensitive information and
verbally or non-verbally ask for the informed consent of respondents before the illegal carrying out of a
personal interview.

The concerned researchers looked for permission from the school administration headed by
Juanito G. Ladislao, Ed. D, Principal IV together with the Assistant Principal Liberty I. Bolasoc to conduct a
survey. Upon overwhelming approval, the concerned research will get back the request letter. The
researchers will then administer the guide question to the respondents after giving them some
background information concerning our intentions and what represents the study all about.
Approval to provide the questionnaires and accompanying of the investigation was achieved and
protected from school administrators the searchers then distributed the survey forms and conducted of
the study during the time research process. Finally, the personal data only gathered using in contrast the
different research instruments were critically analyzed and merely interpreted.
