Content Standard The Learners demonstrate an understanding of particle of nature of matter as basis for
explaining properties, physical changes and structure of substances and mixtures.

Performance Standard The Learners shall be able to present how water behaves its different states within water
cycle.
Learning Competency
Explain physical changes interms of the arrangement and motion of the atoms and
molecules.(S8MT-IIIcd-9)
I. Learning Objective The Grade 8 learners is expected to: Describe the physical change in matter. (k)
II. Subject Matter Physical change in matter
A. Concept
* Physical change in matter- The appearance of matter changes in a physical change but its
chemical identity remains the same.
* Melting- change of matter from solid to liquid.
* condensation- change of matter from gas to liquid.
* vaporization- change of matter from liquid to gas.
* Freezing-change of matter from liquid to solid.
