Vishal Julka’s Dilemma

Analyze Vishal’s job.is it worth doing so much, at the cost of so many things?

For Vishal, carrying out a cost-benefit analysis at the current Regional Sales Manager post, anybody
can clearly identify that the job was more expensive for Vishal mentally, personally as well as on the
physical front than the designation. Because of the same, Vishal began to suffer from high cholesterol.
The job's tension took a toll on his health. Therefore, the job descriptions do not seem apparent to Vishal
because he himself feels that being a middle-level boss, the multitude of tasks he tries to complete every
day is endless and beyond his career description. In addition, Vishal has been negligent towards his
family for a long time and is unable to find any quality time to spend with his wife. His time
management is getting poorer as time is too much less depending on the work he attends during a day.
As a result, Vishal is unable to perform on any of these fronts, making the job less worthwhile and more
burdensome.

What managerial skills are described in this case? Which skills is more important for
Vishal to possess? Why?

The case study includes moments in which the ability to plan and organizing skills are clearly visible.
The skillset that Mr. Vishal Julka would possess is the ability to control and direct, he is unable to
transfer the mission and duties allocated to him and, however, he lacks the simple ability to deal with
things in the regional sales manager's role. He gets overburdened by the workload and, moreover, due
to inadequate handling of jobs, the amount of stress he is experiencing has led him to enter an unfit
stage of health at a young age.

Why do you think that Vishal is handling too much (if you think so)? Is there a way out?

Vishal does too much as being the company's middle lever boss to attend calls that day, supporting
sales, traveling, and also preparing for the sales staff's benefits. He also had to visit different customers
and negotiate business growth with national distributors. He didn't even have time to go for his lunch
and had health problems as well. He was not even able to properly handle his personal life. Being the
regional sales manager, he would assign the minor tasks to his subordinates such as answering phone
calls, gathering business reports, etc. and focus more on the major tasks such as redesigning the regions
to increase the salesperson's profitability, changing the salesperson's area to reduce travel time, etc. He
was also able to delay less important tasks and concentrate on the more important tasks.

Can Vishal manage his life in the long run? If so, please give suggestions.

In the long run, Vishal would have a lot of difficulty in managing his life. He's putting a lot of pressure
on his professional life, which also hampers his personal life. His work's burden has made him even
unhealthy. He has so much responsibility on his plate that he can not do it alone, which can lead him to
fail on both personal and professional fronts. When Vishal, on the other hand, organizes his routine and
how he works, he can do much better.
How is Vishal’s life similar to any salesperson’s life in general? What differences did you
find in your life and that of Vishal?

Vishal’s average day involves meeting target, making calls, collecting reports which is quiet similar to
a salesperson’s daily routine. The job role was also no clearly defined, hence he needed up doing almost
everything similar to a salesperson’s profile. Vishal’s also required to report to someone’s with his
report.

I find myself similar to Vishal in many ways. I too find myself meeting the deadlines, feeling
overburdened, unable to manage time wisely.
