Chapter One

Introduction

This chapter introduces us the background, general and specific


problem, conceptual framework, significance of the study and scope and
delimitation of the study.

Background of the Study

Too many alcoholic beverages has many bad effects to our body such
as our brain, heart, liver, pancreas and immune system. But many of us are
using those kinds of drinks even though we all knew that it has bad side
effects for our body. Alcoholic beverages are very common to Students such
as High School students because according to them this helps them to
relieve the problems they’re thinking or suffering like, financial problem and
family problem. But sometimes these kinds of beverages are also the main
reason why does their academic performances are getting low or they’re
having bad-grades. That’s why we need to interrupt them to stop using
alcoholic beverages to maintain and get high grades and good scores to
have a better future someday.

A new study find outs that most of the male, even female students
of Moncada National High School are using alcohol beverages. This research
shows the different effects of drinking alcoholic beverages of students of
MNHS. This will also help or encourage students on stop using alcoholic
beverages if they wanted to have a successful future someday.

Chapter I. THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND


This chapter introduces us the background, general and specific problem,
conceptual framework, significance of the study & scope and delimitation of the study.

Sleep deprivation affects people from all walks of life regardless of age, gender,
civil status, religious belief, profession and etc. It affects decision-makers such as the
student and even the out-of-school youths. Sleep deprivation is may feel by anyone, it is
just around the corner. It simply cannot be avoided because it is part of being human. In
fact, a lot of people experience sleep deprivation every night-time. Sleep deprivation is
mostly experienced and very common enemy of students especially the High School,
and students nowadays are really different from the past generations. There are lot of
factors that affects the behavior of student performance in school such as their academic
performance which results to bad grade, points or average and sometimes being
ashamed of themselves because of low academic performance that turns deadly when
student is out of his/her mind. Sleep deprivation was the single most common inhibitor
on academic performance reported by students. These increased sleep deprivation
problems came with some dire consequences and impacts. Students are sometimes
immobilized by their inability to see positive outcome for a difficult situation. They said
“Health is wealth” but sometimes students have sleeping issues that oppose them for not
going to school because of having not enough sleep. Education must be important to the
students because this is their pathway for a better future.

The reason of this research is to show the different impacts of sleep deprivation
that causes disruptions into the student’s academic performance which serve the key to
help them prevent sleep deprivation or other forms of sleeping disorders as this study
goes further, we might be able to find more knowledge aside from what they have
already known for them to prevent or to recover from the suffering of sleep deprivation.
With this research, we can give students specifically Grade 10 Students of Moncada
National High School a way to overcome this kind of sleeping disorder. And this kind of
topic may help many students, to dream, to learn and to become a successful one in the
future. as well as benefit the future studies that is related with this topic.
