Permanent make-up with LaBina ® products
1
The LaBina Team in Denmark

The beginnings of LaBina Permanent Makeup

Permanent make-up – the idea of a sustainable lasting base make-up – was discovered by Barbara Schneider, cosmetician
and artist, in 1986 in the USA. Determined to turn permanent make-up into a sustainable success in Germany, she returned
from the USA and founded the company Schneider Kosmetik Vertriebsgesellschaft mbh in collaboration with her husband
Helmut Schneider. In 2004 the company was renamed PERMANENT-Line Schneider-Kosmetik GmbH.

The development of today´s pigmenting method was a long journey that required the commitment of the whole family.
Since many years Barbara and Helmut Schneider´s children Birgit, Astrid and Marcus as well as their daughter-in-law Ina
are operating in the permanent make-up industry in independent businesses. They work with diverse appliances and
methods and are internationally acknowledged specialists in their field of expertise due to their extensive experience.
Especially people that are in need of a beautification due to accidents, diseases or signs of aging, appreciate theirlong-
term experience.

Milestones of LaBina Permanent Makeup

The development of our pigmenting method

As one of the first providers of permanent make-up in Germany our family-team has been involved in the following
developments:

1986 – Pigments
First of all we had to find colours that were suitable for sketching with the artistry
paint brush as well as the subsequent pigmentation. The common tattoo colours
were not applicable for us. Various pigments were either too zu watery/oily or they
contained iron oxides. Meanwhile more than 25 years of experience with perma-
nent make-up are included in the development of the pigment series that is speci-
fically produced for us.

1987 – First electrical pigmentation instruments

With regard to a PERMANENT-Line make-up that is both gentle to
the skin and artistic, the former heavy and besides unhandy tattoo
machines were only suitable to a limited extent. After numerous
tests the first electrically operated instrument was implemented
(see photo shown on the left). Over the years our instruments be-
came more practical, handy and above all safer and more precise in
application.

Our first electrical pigmentation instrument

Since 2004 we are utilising the instrument shown on the right. The patended modul-system
meets our high hygiene standards by using disposable needles. Due to the precise
and fast needle stroke as well as the quiet and smooth running engine
in the handpiece we are able to carry out excellent results with

1988 – Fine hair eyebrows

At the cosmetics trade fair BEAUTY in 1988
we introduced the naturally appearing fine hair eyebrow technique for the first time. Until today this technique is
still associated with the name of Barbara Schneider or PER-
MANENT-Line both nationally and internationally. As we are
not using any templates for the drawing of the eyebrows, we
are able to individually shape them with our customers: thick,
thinr, flat or round.

For the often imitated drawing technique it is necessary that

the eyebrows are drawn with a steady and practiced hand
and are symmetrically arranged. Fine hair lines pigmented
with a fine needle make the optical additions appear more
natural. The eyebrows appear naturally formed and the face
is favourably emphasised.

4
1989 – Lash line accentuation
In close cooperation with physicians an anaesthetic for the lid edge was
developed in 1989. This enables us to pigment soft lash line accents that
are almost always absolutely painless. Customers can pursue with every-
day activities in public directly after the treatment. The demand has been
so enormous and positive that we were encouraged to offer various eye-
lid forms and pigments.

1990 – Lip contour

The team of PERMANENT-Line was drawing lip contours as a fine line
along the natural edges of the lips for the first time in 1990. We usualy
choose a colour for the line that is a hint darker than the natural colour
of the inner surface of the lips. The contour can also be designed tone-
in-tone with the own lip colour. Full and well-shaped lips make the face
appear very sensual and feminine.

1992 – Bicoloured eyeliner

In both specialised and women´s magazines we presented the bico-
loured eyeliner in 1992. This method makes the lashes appear more
fuller and darker and additionally emphasises the colour of the eye.
Our customers are perfectly made up with our permanent and natural-
ly looking fine hair eyebrows and eyeliners. Add some mascara to the
lashes – and you are ready to go!

1994 – Lip colour refreshment

Since there has been only the lip contour drawing for years, in 1994 the
team of PERMANENT-Line developed the so called lip colour refresh-
ment. The treatment process involves a shading from the edges to the
inner surface of the lip – pigmented in any desired lip colour. Due to
the full shadowing that is lasting for several years, the lips appear to be
better supplied with blood. The initially drawn lip contour gets a more
descrete look due to the even shading; thereby an optical enlargement
of the lips is possible. Goodbye lipstick! Of course lipsticks in fashiona-
ble colours can still be applied.

LaBina Denmark
Since TV shows such as “Stern-TV” with Günther Jauch, “Schreinemakers live”, WDR 3 with
Tom Buhrow or the “ZDF Mittagsmagazin” reported on the PERMANENT-Line method, an image film
about Birgit Schneider with the title “Permanent make-up is a matter of trust” had been produced by
a company based in Berlin. Even until today we use this comprehensive film as an authentic report
on our working methods. From our experience we know how important it is to gather detailed infor-
mation before a permanent make-up treatment.

The art of permanent pigmentation
The art of permanent pigmentation lies within the correct handling of the needle, which should be
placed neither too short nor too deep under the skin surface.

If the needle does not penetrate deep enough,

the pigments are only placed in the upper cellular layers of the cuticle (epidermis). as the cellulars
in this skin layers are renewed within 4 weeks, the inserted pigments will little by little be discarded
toghether with the formated scab. The treatment outcome that looked intensive in the beginning will
be alost or completely vanished after a few days.

If the needle penetrates the dermis with too much pressure,

a lot of small capillary vessels are damaged. The treatment will not only be very painful, the caused
blood spots will also thin the pigments that cannot be processed in fine lines anymore. This means
they will leak broadly. During the healing process crusts of scab will develop. Once these clearly visi-
ble scrabs have healed, the treatment outcome will appear unclaer and stained.

Correct application:
During pigmentation both epidermis and dermis should only be bruised slightly; these bruises heal
within 3 to 7 days without leaving any visible scars. This result can be achieved by using a proven pig-
mentation instrument in combination with a suitable pigmentation method. The punctual damages
caused by the small needle stitches only marginally stress your customer´s skin.

Our LaBina pigmentation instruments

Quality and safety means higher effort

For us quality management means working with utmost care and excellent materials. In conjunction
with our pigmentation method and our proven LaBina® permanent make-up products our highly
viscous pigments enable a gentle injection of a large quantity of pigments with every needle lift. The
necessary amount of time, the higher costs for matrials and additional expenses as well as the broad
experience influence the treatment price of comanpies like PERMANENT-Line, that are specialised in
professional permanent make-up treatments.

Knowing that they are in experienced hands, our end customers reward us by willingly paying a fair
and appropriate price for a high quality permanent make-up. You too should utilise products, which
enable you to pigment even more successful in the future.

10
General information on pigmentation instruments
Worldwide the number of infectious diseases increases in a large degree. The transmission of the
infections are diverse. Since a minor leakage of lymphatic fluid and blood may be possible during
a permanent make-up treatment, there is an increased risk of transmission of infectious diseases if
the treatment is executed improperly or inappropriate pigmentation instruments are utilised. Tiny
droplets of blood or serum, that are attached to insufficiently disinfected and sterilised pigmentation
instruments and reusable pigmentation needles can transmit pathogens. But also permanent make-
up providers that are already diseased themselves, may infect their customers due to tiny injuries
on their hands.
Studies demonstrate that people who get tattooed are exposed to a significantly higher risk of an in-
fection with hepatitis than people without tattoos. The high proportion of infected test persons with
tattoos is traced back to the inadequate hygiene during the execution of the treatment. If hygienic
standards are neglected and if non-sterile instruments are utilised, hepatitis viruses can be trans-
mitted. Especially if the treatment is carried out by staff with insufficient training or if disinfection
measures, gloves or disposable material are cut due to financial reasons, the risk of an infection with
hepatitis C is even higher. Since a permanent make-up treatment bears the same risks as tattooing,
the requirements for permanent make-up providers, hygiene and pigmentation instruments are ex-
tremely high.

In most cases too little attention is paid to hygiene

Due to unawareness or carelessness even experienced permanent make-up providers sometimes
take insufficient precautions to prevent their customers or themselves from contagious diseases.

Due to improper working methods the following health risks can occur:
• Viral infections, hepatitis B/C/D and HIV infection

The LaBina safety concept
A lot of the customary tattoo and pigmentation instruments are not suitable for the gentle
and artistical permanent make-up of PERMANENT-Line. A well-known German manufacturer
of medical devices develops pigmentation instruments offers an above-average safety
regarding sterility. These devices meet our high standards. Besides the hygienic sa-
fety the precise needle lift and the minimum of vibration have convinced us.
The digital control units enable a consistent needle frequency that can
be adjusted individually depending on the application area and the
respective pigmentation. The device surfaces of the LaBina®
control units are equipped with a membrane keypad. As a re-
sult the devices can easily be cleaned and no contamina-
tions can settle between the switches and buttons.

gie

le the treatment the hygiene modules are removed from the
sab
po
Dis sterile packaging. Due to fast moving pieces within a conven-
tional handpiece small air circulations can occur. These circulations
can bear a potential risk of infections. Our hygiene modules are closed by
a membrane on the rear end and therefore protect the handpiece against pollution
caused by contaminated fluids and air-circulation. A transmission of germs from customer to cu-
stomer or from provider to customer and vice versa is virtually ruled out due to the patented hygiene
module technique of our pigmentation instruments.
The hygiene module is furthermore designed to achieve an exceptional precision (especially for a fine
hair drwaing). A wide range of needle combinations allows the drawing of fine hairs as well as the
coverage of wider areas.

The benefits for your customers are obvious

Since bundled needles enable the simultaneous setting of several pigment dots with one single needle lift
the treatment duration of the PERMANENT-Line pigmentation method is briefer. When utilising a common
thin single needle, it is necessary to set one line next to the other, which enhances the risk of skin damages.
This risk is significantly reduced. The pigment application is rich and the treatment is perceived as more
pleasant (especially at the lid edges and lips). If performed properly, there will be less damages and the
healing process of the skin will proceed faster.

The European Union increases the protection of employees and patients from sharp instruments.
A new EU-directive to minimise the risk of injuries and infections that can be caused by sharp and pointed
instruments. Besides businesses in the healthcare sector the directive may also oblige permanent make-up
providers to utilise “safe needle systems with integrated safety mechanisms”. Because the needle tips are al-
ways retracted into the nozzle and are only applying pigments into the skin if properly used, the EU-directive
can be complied with our patented hygiene module systems. If you are opting for our patented hygiene
module system, you are already meeting the requirements of the EU-directive.

feature a convincingly exact needle stroke and the Barrel of the Advanced Liner hygiene module
handpieces which are especially low in vibration. The engine power in the handpiece ist suitable for
all permanent make-up purposes; from medical pigmentation to microlift treatments.

The digital control units ensure a constant needle frequency – even with constantly alternating
pressures of the needle. The moment the needle penetrates the skin and the resistance noticeably
decelerates the needle of common pigmentation instruments, the combination of our intelligent
digital control unit and the powerful engine of the handpiece ensures that the amount of needle
stitches per second is retained on the previously adjusted frequence. For different skin structures
the stroke speed of the pigmentation needle can be adjusted via buttons on the functional and
compact control unit; values ranging from 50 to 150 strokes per second.

How a hygiene module pigmentation instrument works and if it offers an added value can only be
determined after an extensive use. This experience cannot be achieved through a product demonstra-
tion. But we are convinced that you will profit from the numerous benefits of our devices within a short
period of time and therefore offer you to extensively test them. fter this period you can decide whether
you want to keep one of the tested devices. If so, we will convert your deposit into a down payment and
you only pay the difference to the regular price. If you return the device to us, we will refund your depo-
sit immediately upon receipt. Besides the costs for used hygiene modules no further costs arise for you.

• Your equity, your lines of credit and bank securities are not affected by the acquisition.

• Clearly defined planning and cost basis due to agreed finansing installments

• With constant, agreed finansing installments throughout the entire term you are unaffected
by increasing interest rates and have a clearly defined planning and cost basis (e.g. for internal
calculations or budgets).

• Due to the similar course of financing costs and revenues from the operation of the pigmenta-
tion instrumentsthe financing payments can easily be placed from the ongoing income of the
permanent make-up treatments (“pay as you earn” principle).

Quality check
For many years our team has been working exclusively with the LaBina® pigmentation instruments that
are produced serially for us and distributet throughout Europe. Additional to the safety of being able
to work sterile, our hygiene module systems offer further crucial advantages.

Less skin damage, evenly colour injection, noticeably faster healing

How this is possible is shown by a quality comparison regarding the stitch behavior of our devices
and a common device of an Asian manufacturer. With both handpieces a straight line was drawn
on a piece of paper – both times using a thin 1er needle and a relatively high speed. Afterwards the
area of the punctures was greatly magnified under a microscope and photographed in detail with a
special macro camera.

70-fold magnification
It is clearly visible that the asian pen has drawn uneven lines. The drive was parially too low to pene-
trate the paper. It is also evident that the needle of the Asian system was making stitches with larger
diameters. Even from this magnification it can be deduced that an even colour injection is not possible
with the Asian system.

® Asian pigmentation instrument

LaBina pigmentation instrument

The image clearly shows the higher amount of stitches per millimetre that were realised by the LaBina®
handpiece (achieved by the higher stroke frequency). Furthermore the punctures are neat and distinct.

220-fold magnification
This magnification once more shows the neat stitches of our handpiece in comparison to the rough
stitch of the Asian device.

General information on pigments
Allergic and inflammatory skin reactions are undesirable side effects of tattooing or permanent ma-
ke-up treatments.

Allergic reaction to agents in the pigments:

In many cases, allergic reactions can be traced back to preservatives or metallic ingredients, espe-
cially heavy metals such as nickel, cobalt, chrome and other allergenic ingredients in the pigments.

Contamination and Azo colour components in pigments:

Contaminations in the colour mixes and certain Azo colour elements which may split into carcinoge-
nic aromatic amines can represent another safety hazard. Such Azo components also present a risk
during the removal of tattoos and permanent make-up if performed with a laser. They may be split
into carcinogenic amines by the laser beam, and are then carried around the body via the blood-
stream.

Laws and regulations

The Cosmetics Commission of the German Federal Risk Assess-
ment Office (Bundesamtes für Risikobewertung) dealt with the
problem of tattooing pigments in May 2000, recommending le-
gislative action for the use of the respective pigments. Pigments
that comply with the requirements provide a high degree of safe-
ty for the customers and reduce potential health risks.

European Council resolutions:

In recent years, the European Council has passed resolutions
regarding the use of tattooing and pigmentation colours to in-
crease consumer protection. The decisions are the result of nu-
merous discussions, experiences and analyses by various mem-
ber states.

German tattooing regulation:

As a result of the resolutions by the European Council the first Ger-
man tattooing regulation came into force in May 2009. It mainly
follows the resolution of the Council and refers to the German cos-
metics regulations. Essential parts of the resolutions such as the de-
termination of critical values for heavy metals or polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons have not yet been included in the regulations.

Among the 1,000+ prohibited substances and chemicals are car-

cinogenic Azo pigments and aromatic amines, the allergenic and sensitising paraphenylenediamine
(PPD) and other ingredients that were previously permitted. They are considered dangerous to the
health.

The tattooing regulation is not only binding on tattooists, but also on manufacturers and distribu-
tors of pigmentats and on anyone carrying out permanent make-up treatments in Germany.

Our LaBina pigments

Our LaBina® pigments

The LaBina® pigments distributed throughout Europe by
PERMANENT-Line GmbH & Co. KG meet the legal
requirements.

Our pigmentats are produced by a German producer

who has specialised in the manufacture of tattooing
and pigmentation colours for more than 15 years.

hin überprüft. All relevant raw materials are analysed by
approved laboratories according to as many as 60 diffe-
rent parameters before their initial application in each
new batch.

It is furthermore ensured that they comply with legal re-

quirements and recommendations.

LaBina® pigments do not contain cadmium, chromate,

mercury, selenium, tellurium, thallium, uranium or solu-
ble barium compounds.

All values for antimony, arsenic, barium sulphate, lead, chromium and zinc correspond to the strict
limits of the European Council resolution ResAP(2008)1 and are below the recommended critical va-
lues.

Before choosing a provider of pigments, it is vital to confirm the quality of the products. We will be
happy to send you pigment samples free of charge and without obligation.

An analysis evaluation giving all relevant and necessary information is available for every pigmentation
colour.

We are happy to explain the essential aspects that need to be considerated when purchasing pig-
mentats.

26
Careful analyses for the safety of your clients
The thorough inspection of our pigments exceeds the legal requirements of the German tattooin-
gregulation.

In anticipation of future regulations, the raw materials are already analysed extensively for the pre-
sence of heavy metals. This means that our pigment manufacturer complies with the more extensive
requirements of the European Council recommendations which also set an upper limit for the percen-
tage of heavy metals present in those colours.

The minimal traces of heavy metals in the pigments are analysed in relation to the limits re-
commended by the European Council and particularly published in the analysis evaluations.

Our LaBina pigments

Alcohol not used as a preservative

We use highly purified water for the manufacture of LaBina® pigments, similar to that used for injec-
tions. Many allergic reactions that occur after pigmentation treatments are caused by the utilised
preservatives (e.g. paraben). Infections can also be caused by germs in pigmentation colours. Due to
the immune system defences of the body that are triggered by such an infection, it is possible that
immediately after treatment there is an increased rejection of the pigment, which can cause a faded
or patchy pigmentation. Even dead germs are still able to trigger negative reactions in the body. It is
therefore particularly important to produce clean, pure and microbiologically stable colours. Our ex-
perience has shown that alcohol is solely limitedly appropriate as a preservative for pigments, becau-
se only highly concentrated alcohol such as ethanol or isopropyl can reliably kill all germs. If alcohol
evaporates during storage, the proportion remaining in the pigments may even act as a nutrient for
micro-organisms and even provide the basis for germs to multiply. Alcohol dries out, irritates the skin
during treatment and often is perceived as extre-
mely unpleasent on newly pigmented skin.

Our manufacturer does not use alcohol for LaBina ®

pigments. Nevertheless the products still offer a
very good basis for meeting future microbial re-
quirements on pigments.

Glycerine is a component of all fats and in our ex-

perience
also is limitedly appropriate as a preservative, sin-
ce pigments containing glycerine in a high dosage
are much less suitable
for pre-drwaing on the skin. However, clean and
precise
pre-drawing with the desired and selected pig-
mentation colour directly on the skin is very impor-
tant since it prevents incorrect positioning and discrepancies. Even before pigmentation, customers
have a precise idea of the expected result regarding the design of the lines and the colours selected.

With our pigments, lines can be pre-drawed with a fine brush, according to our proven slogan:
FIRST SKETCHING - THEN STITCHING. This way the pigmentation permanently carried out has
previously been seen and approved by the client.

28
No ferrous oxide pigments included
LaBina® pigments do not contain ferrous oxide pigments which
can cause a discolouration of the eyebrow pigmentation from
brown to a reddish orange within only a few months.

If the eyebrow pigmentation has already turned reddish, this can

be corrected and improved by repeated retracing with our pig-
mentations in the majority of cases.
Reddish discoloured permanent make-up
The more a brow has been re-pigmented with colours containing
ferrous oxides in the past, the more difficult it is to perform a co-
lour correction to achieve the desired result.

No limitations on MRI scans

Modern medicine has provided us with many different ways of
examining the inside of the human body. Magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) is a procedure which enables detailed and precise
imaging by photographing different layers of parts of the body.
It is one of the least invasive methods of examination because
instead of X-rays, a magnetic field is used for imaging, which is
not harmful for humans.

This examination method is used increasingly more often as a valua-

ble tool for the best possible diagnosis. Over the course of recent years
we heard about a lot of cases in which octors have cancelled planned
MRI examinations after finding out that the patient in question has
had a tattoo or permanent make-up with colours containing ferrous
oxide.

The reason for this is that the patient’s body is exposed to very
strong magnetic fields during the MRI process. Pigmentation with
colours containing iron may heat up irritably during the MRI, and
cause reddening and minor burns in the area where they are ap-
plied to the skin. This in turn is due to the fact that the magnetic
power draws the ferrous particles in the pigments under the skin
and makes them vibrate.

After a pigmentation carried out with LaBina® pigments there is absolutely no need to worry as they
do not contain any pigments with ferrous oxides. In case of a medical examination you can refer to the
ingredients of our pigmentation colours and quote the results of our analyses.

Germ-free thanks to novoxx® technology
Due to the use of novoxx® our colours are germ-free. It kills
bacteria, yeasts and fungi and has been successfully used in pig-
mentation dyes since 2004.

What is novoxx®?
novoxx® is a combination of minerals which have revolutionised
the manufacture of safe pigmentation colours. As a micro-fine
ground white powder it has various positive features. Studies certify
that it is as harmless as an implant material in medicine.

The abilities of novoxx®

When novoxx® was first discovered our pigment manufacturer was challenged with the development
of a technology for micro-biologically safe permanent make-up colours..

• novoxx®solvesproblemswhichmayberelatedtothelong-termstorageandconservationofpigmentsafterthe
flasks are initially opened. Since novoxx® is a solid, it cannot evaporate. With the reduction of carrier liquid, the
concentration of novoxx® in the bottle increases, which in turn increases its reliable germ-eliminating effect.

• novoxx® is absorbed by the body without being detected as alien and potentially being rejected.

We have no knowledge of any allergic reactions to novoxx® in pigments (as of July 2013).
•

• The minerals used for novoxx® are intended to support the healing of the wounds immediately after
completion of the pigmentation process. In our daily practice we have found that itching during the
healing process is reduced compared with traditional products not containing novoxx®. This results
in less irritation of the skin and visibly more beautiful results.

novoxx® increases colour intensity

Due to additional reflective surfaces which the micro-fine ground
white novoxx®-powder generates in the LaBina® pigments, brilli-
ance and colour saturation under the skin are slightly enhanced.
Free follow-up appointments after a permanent make-up treat-
ment ensure quality and durability.

novoxx® is an innovative technology that already complies

with many applicable legal requirements in Germany and
abroad.
