Dear Prospective Employer,

Ms. Korina Kim completed the general education portion of her Michigan State University Teaching
Internship in my fifth grade classroom August 26, 2019-December 20, 2019 at Pinecrest Elementary
School in East Lansing, MI. With 25 years of teaching experience, I have hosted many student teachers.
Ms. Kim embraced all aspects of the experience, made evident her respect for the learning process, and
her passion for student well-being. Without question, she will be an asset to her future school
community.

Our school is a public elementary school with an enrollment of 400 students, grades preK-5. Ms. Kim’s
experience was in grade 5 with 65 students. Her teaching responsibilities included planning and
teaching engaging lessons in reading, writing, and mathematics. Our inclusive environment included 10
students with Individualized Education Plans, multiple students with 504 plans due to medical
conditions, and 45% of our student population qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Consistently, Ms. Kim was able to anticipate the needs of students both academically and socially. She
provided accommodations for physically impaired students, English Language Learners, and
academically gifted students alike. She encouraged pupils to be their best. She regularly infused lessons
with high-interest materials and relatable content. She found a wonderful balance of planning,
assessing, and adjusting timelines to maximize learning. Ms. Kim demonstrated proficiency with the use
of technology as it related to teaching.

The highest compliment a mentor teacher can give an intern would be the desire to be their coworker.
Without question, Ms. Kim would be a welcome member of our team at Pinecrest Elementary. Her
attention to individual student needs, racial and economic diversity, and ability to teach grade level
content are all great strengths for her. She effectively communicates with students, parents, and staff
members. Her professionalism reflects someone experienced and serious about their job.

Please feel free to reach out should you need more information about this exceptional teacher
candidate.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Goff
