Note: Numbers represent rating on 1-10 scale, with 10 being the

highest and 1 being the lowest.

* All restaurants with an asterisk denote a destination that requires

a free period before or after lunch in order to go, get food, and

return to school before class begins.

Ethnic & Etc.:

1. Greek Kabob 8
a. Delicious gyro sandwich. Cheap, located in
same complex as Good Stuff burger/Quiznos.

2. Mitsuwa Marketplace 7.5


a. Japanese market, great ramen (Santoka) and
beef bowls (Misasa).

3. Japanese Mall (Nijiya) (Olympic & Sawtelle) 6


a. Yogurtland, beard papas, good sushi in
market.

4. *Jody Maroni’s* 6
a. Average hotdogs and sausages, on Venice
boardwalk. Cheap, recommend Louisiana hotlink.

5. Primos Donuts 8.5


a. Fantastic donuts, perfect for Friday nutrition.
6. *Q’s* 7
a. Great atmosphere, free billiards with bar food
lunch.

7. Hurry Curry 7
a. Fast service, very good Indian food. Cheap
and authentic, try the lamb curry.

8. Whole Foods 5
a. Salad bar and OK sandwiches, some prepared
food good.

9. Ihop 4.5
a. Great breakfast selection, orange juice is very
expensive. Try the chocolate chip pancakes.

10. The Curious Palette 8


a. Great organic local food. Try the Philly cheese
steak sandwich.

Italian

1. Tony Maroni’s 6
a. Not the same as Jody Maroni’s, Italian
sandwiches and pastas.

2. Piece O’ Pizza 5
a. Decent cheap pizza, often has ice cream cart
guy walking near it.

3. *Bravo’s Pizza* 8
a. New York style pizza by the slice, excellent
pizza great cannolis.

4. Abbot’s Pizza Co. 7.5


a. Great bagel crust pizza on Abbot Kinney, can
buy by slice or pie.
BBQ

1. Outdoor Grill 7
a. Good BBQ, tri-tip or chicken sandwiches. A
little pricey.

2. Tubs Chili 8
a. Best and only chili place in LA, have multiple
kinds of delicious chili: beef, beef w/beans, pork,
turkey, and even vegetarian. Cheap too.

3. *Mr. Cecil’s* 10
a. Best BBQ west of Mississippi; St. Louis, Baby
Back, and Beef rib options. Incredible BBQ sauce, but try
ribs alone first. Ranked in top 5 in nation. Very
expensive, but you’ll want to save up for it. Sides are
just as good.

4. *Baby Blues BBQ* 9


a. Great BBQ place, delicious sandwiches: tri-
tip, pulled pork, chicken, and catfish. Much better
than Outdoor Grill but a little more expensive.

Truck

1. Kogi 9
a. Fantastic Mexican-Korean fusion; great
burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. Check online for
specials. By far the best food truck.

2. Grilled Cheese Truck 7.5


a. Probably the best grilled cheese sandwich
you’ve ever had, can choose any cheese or topping --
mac and cheese, pulled pork, onions, bacon, turkey.
Great tomato soup.

3. Buttermilk Truck 7
a. Good breakfast sandwiches, friendly service,
French toast dippers. Best breakfast food truck.

4. Baby’s Badass Burgers 8


a. Delicious burgers completely customizable.
Two sizes: 2 sliders or one ½ -pound burger.

5. Dogtown Dogs 7
a. Great hot dogs, a little pricey; create a
custom hot dogs, but gotta get some tater tots on
the side.

6. Border Grill Truck 7


a. Phenomenal quesadilla, good tacos. A little
overpriced but generally worth it.

7. Cool Haus 7
a. Amazing ice cream sandwiches. Can choose
cookie top and ice cream filling, tons of options.

8. Philly Cheese Truck 7


a. Decent Philly cheese steak, but by far the
best you’ll find in West LA. About $10 per sandwich.

9. Sprinkles Truck 7
a. Cupcakes baked in restaurant and put into
trucks, but still good despite not being fresh.

10. Let’s Be Frank 6.5


a. Awesome hot dogs, ‘nuff said.
Mexican

1. Baja Bud’s 6
a. Great introduction to lunch scene at
Windward: a staple. Average Mexican food, fairly
high priced.
2. Baja Fresh 5.5
a. Mexican fast food, average food for average
price.

3. El Super Taco 8.5


a. One of the best taco places in West LA.
Unbelievably cheap, so delicious, great parking, a
little sketchy. You can enjoy your lunch while
watching a telanovella. Don’t judge before you try.

4. Campos’ Tacos 7.5


a. Very good cheap tacos, massive burritos,
delicious chips. Oaxaca market next door has good
Mexican cokes to complement your meal.

5. La Salsa 5
a. As good as Baja Fresh, but a little worse.

6. Tito’s Tacos 5.5


a. Overrated but still good for the price.
American-style tacos (hard shell, greasy beef,
iceberg lettuce, yellow cheese). Cheese costs extra
and no refills on drinks.

7. Taco Miendo 6.5


a. Pretty good tacos, larger than average, great
deal.

8. Tacos Por Favor 7


a. Better than average, a little far away.
Mexican Pepsi and Coke are a plus.

9. Empanada’s Place 2
a. The worst place on this list. 3 out of 5 people
got food poisoning here. And the empanadas are not
even that good.

Sandwiches

1. Bay Cities 9

a. Go for the Godmother or Italian prosciutto di


parma. One of the best sandwiches in LA, but
make sure to order online at nutrition so your
sandwich is ready when you get there. CLOSED
MONDAYS.

2. *Langer’s Deli* 10

a. Get their world-famous number 19, the thick


cut pastrami sandwich. Literally the best
pastrami sandwich in the U.S. VERY expensive.

3. Tender Greens 9

a. Not a hippie place. Amazing flatiron steak,


chicken, and ahi tuna sandwiches; mashed
potatoes very, very good. Salads also delicious.

4. Champagne 7

a. French dip and Monte Cristo sandwich


delicious, fries also very good. Great pastries,
authentic French cuisine.

5. Philly West 6.5


a. Good Philly cheese steak at a reasonable
price. Nice ambiance filled with Philly sports
memorabilia.

6. Subway 5

a. The epitome of average.

7. Quizno’s 5

a. The great debate: Quiznos or Subway? Subway


is overall better, but Quiznos is toasted.

8. Johnny’s Pastrami 8

a. Second-best pastrami sandwich, much closer


to Windward than Langer’s, still pretty good.
Fairly expensive.

9. *Amelia’s* 9

a. Prosciutto sandwich with fresh mozzarella and


delicious pesto on artisan bread. Expensive but
absolutely worth the price. Closed Mondays.

Burgers

1. Hole in the Wall Burger Joint 9.5

a. Best burger in LA. Not tooo expensive, great


service. Homemade pretzel bun and ketchup are an
unstoppable duo. Build your own burger.

2. Hamburger Habit 5
a. Good for beginners. Decent food, good milkshake,
friendly service. Chili burger pretty good.

3. Tomy’s Chili Burger 5

a. Not to be confused with Tommy’s Chili Burger.


Mixed reviews. Pricy, greasy, loaded with chili
goodness. Bouncy balls are sold.

4. Sunny Grill 5

a. Good fast easy burgers and sandwiches. Very


cheap, very quick. Oreo milkshake fantastic. Drive-
thru a plus.

5. Howard’s Burgers 7

a. Famous for their Bacon & Avocado Burger.

6. Fatburger 6

a. Expensive, pretty good burgers. Tackle the 24oz


challenge if you dare…

7. The Counter 8.5

a. One of the best burgers in LA. BYOB. Apple pie


milkshake unreal. Call ahead or wait for hours.

8. *Apple Pan* 9

a. Great atmosphere, very busy. An LA landmark.


Hickory burger fantastic. Great pies, a little pricy.

9. Good Stuff Burger 5

a. OK burgers, ask for the white bread bun.


Chocolate-banana milkshake a plus.
