Reasons for Job Shadow

● I contacted the software engineer on the phone since she was my mom’s friend. Other two
people I met them face to face since they are my dad’s friends.
● I choose these jobs because I want to do either computer programming or accounting
when I go to college.
● Accounting is probably my number one choice because I have taken every accounting
course the school offers.
Interactions in the Workplace

● For a software engineer the type of skills you need are some basic logical and analytical
reasoning. I would need to know some basic programming like Java and HTML which I
have experienced.
● For an accountant you need software skills as well since everything is done online and
accounting skills. I can see myself in fifteen years as a accountant or a software engineer
because I think I can really be passionate about it. But I can’t see myself as a practice
leader because you need communication and presentation skills which I am really bad at.
Environment- Software Engineer

● The environment at JP Morgan Chase was really quiet and it was empty. There was only 5
or 6 people beside the person I was job shadowing and me.
● There was a row of desks with two computer screens per person and it was well spaced
out.
● I could see myself working here every day because the environment looks safe and not
dangerous at all.
Insights

● All three of them told me the technology tools they use in their everyday life at work.
Some of the tools I was familiar with but most of them I was not really familiar with at all.
The software engineer showed me some of the work she has already done which was
pretty cool.
● The first one told the tools and technology she uses which were pretty cool. Some of them
are microsoft visual studio, excel, and skype.
Contact with Employees Today

● I have not contacted them back with any questions or anything at all because I am still
deciding the major I want to do. But I can visit JP Morgan anytime since my dad works
there and they offer internships to high school and college students. I can also contact the
director of finance anytime since my dad knows him really well.
