About Company

K. Girdharlal, better known as K.G., is a family business which was established in


1967 by Lata Shri Girdharbhai dominantly as diamond traders, with little resources
used in diamond cutting and polishing. In the early 1990s, they shifted their focus to
cutting and polishing diamonds in Surat, becoming one of India's leading
manufacturers in the industry. The business remains family-run since its inception,
with brothers and partners having global reach along the supply chain across the
major diamond centres including Surat, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Antwerp and Dubai.
Till date, their favourite statistic is having over 2,500 employees worldwide that
share their passion in various steps along the supply chain, which are: ethical rough
diamonds sourcing, optimal manufacturing, polished diamonds distribution, and
jewellery crafting and distribution.
Their environmentally friendly efforts while designing their current Surat factory in
2005 made them the first in the industry to achieve a Platinum Rating Award from the
Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in July, 2014. KG’s core production focuses
on round brilliants between 0.10 and 5ct in commercial colours, VS, Si and Piqué
clarities. KG is also a recognised supplier of Emerald cuts and round-edged fancies
(Marquises, Ovals, and Pears).
As they enter their fourth generation in business, they look forward to preserving
relationships with all of their current stakeholders, whilst welcoming new associates.
It is with this mindset, they coined the phrase "There's More to Making Diamonds".
Since 1995 they are sight holders of Diamond Trading Company (DTC).
As part of its moral commitment to wider society, there are numerous medical,
educational, disaster relief activities undertaken by KG and its directors over the
years.

Human Resource Policies
1) Recruitment Process
 First the requirement from various department identified.
 Then source of recruitment is identified.
o For diamond production staff recruitment is done mostly by reference
so that trust can be built in organisation.
o For support service staff sources such as employment exchange,
advertisement in media, transfer & promotion, agencies, website are
used.
 Once the source is selected then,
o For production staff skills are checked through task allocation.
o For support staff written test, personal interview, group discussion are
used for selection.
 Now the assessment is done.
o For production staff according to their skills they are selected.
o For support service staff various criteria such as confidence,
appearance, decision making, communication etc are used.
 If the person is selected then he need to fill form of joining.
 New recruite is firstly kept for probabtion for 3 months.
 On completion of probabtion period if the recruitee is eligible then he is
considered as permanent employee of organisation.
 Joining firm is filled and various document such as identity proof, age proof,
residence proof are taken.
 Wage structure is also declared at time of joining.
