1. What is MidiPC V program?
This is the interface program of AS720 with PC. Using this program,
you can transfer data with each other between them.
1) When a AS720 is measuring urine samples with MidiPC V open,
the testing results will be transferred to the file in the program
automatically in order.
2) You also can record other fields for urinalysis like microscopic
result, urine color, turbidity and comment of result. It helps you
do easy management of urinalysis result.
3) You can save unlimited data which is sorted by tested date in
the file, while database of AS720 has limit to 2000.
4) You have AS720 print out result sheet with personal data like
patient’s name, ID, age and ward… etc. on it if you enter those
data in the file before measuring.
5) This program has a function for remote controlling. It makes
manufacturer or a distributor solve problems that users of
AS720 face.

2. Setting the environment

2.1. Configuration
1) Open MidiPC V program. Then a window will show like below.

Click System(S) on the upper left side of the file.

Then menu([Fig.2]) will show.

2) Click Config(C) on the menu. Then a window will show like below.

3) You select the port number of your PC for interface with

AS720. As it is different from Computer’ system, you should
move port number to other in case that COM 1 is not
connected.
4) You select the baud rate that is set for AS720.
This is to select speed rate while transferring data with each
other between the instrument and PC.
On normal condition, you’d better select 115200.
5) You can choose one language among 5 of English, Koren,
Chinese, Turkey and Russian.

 6) When you finish setting configuration, click .
Don’t forget to click to save the data you just write in.
But if you don’t want to save them, click .

2.2. Setting Time

MidiPC V file shows current time as below. It means the time
that had been set for your PC.

3. Make list (Register entries)
1) Click System(S) on MidiPC V file of [Fig.1]. Then menu will
show.
2) Click Make List on the menu. Then a window as like [Fig.5]
will show.

3) Type in name, sex, ward, age, ID no. operator’s no., lot. no. of
strip.
Then click button. And you type next entry. You can enter up to
100 entries in this list.(From 0 to 99th)
- Name: 14 letters including symbol
(7 for Chinese character and Korean)
- Sex: Type in letter M or F.
- Ward: Numerals only
- Age: Numerals only
- ID Number: Letter and numerals
- Oper. Number: Letters only
- Lot Number: Letters only

Be careful not to click button if you don’t want to

register from 100th entry.
If you want to remove an entry, you move it in white

rectangle in the middle and click button.

In the case that you skip entering an entry, you move the

next entry in white rectangle in the middle and click

button.
Then you can insert that skipped entry.

 4) Click button. Then a window will show as below.

Times New Roman is set for default. If you especially want a
font, select the font that you want and click OK button in
[Fig.6]. Then you escape to [Fig.5].
5) You click button on [Fig.5].

4. Measurement
1) Check if your PC and AS720 are connected through RS232C
cable.
2) Open MidiPC V program by double clicking it.
Then today’s file will be open automatically.
3) Register all entries of patient in order before you do
measurement. (Refer to 3.Make List(Register entries) up
in this manual)
4) Dip a strip in a urine sample and remove excessive urine.
5) Lay the strip down on the start zone on the loading plate of
AS720.
6) Number 5 by the big font appears on LCD and decrease
numbers 5 to 0. When it becomes 0, the Push Bar starts to
move a strip into instrument for measurement automatically.
Then AS720 will carry out measurement and results will be
out both on LCD and result sheet. And they also will be
transferred to MidiPC V file in your PC.
(Note): While data from AS720 being transferred, you must
activate MidiPC V program. Be careful not to minimize the
window.

5. Recording result
1) When you finish urine tests, results will be transferred to
MidiPC V file automatically. The last result will be shown on
the display.
[Fig.7] will show you result of urine chemistry. If any item is
abnormal result will be shown in red.
[Fig.8] shows you type, direction of strip and sequence
number of data that is stored in database of AS720.

You move to another sample’s result by clicking buttons

or you can go directly by clicking button after you write

a file number in white rectangle next to it.
If you want to change personal data like name, ward,
age…etc., you can edit for them.
If you change data or insert new data, a dialogue box will
show as below. You click (Y) button if you want to save it.

2) In the fields of Routine Test, Casts, Cells, Crystals & Others.
If you want you can record color, turbidity of urine and microscopic
results by clicking each button and selecting one on the menu.

 3) If you also want to report any specific diagnostic opinion or
something, you can write in the field of Comments. (You can fill in
up to 70 letters including symbol. 35 characters for Korean and
Chinese.)

6. Data Base control

6.1 Reviewing data
1) Click System(S) on [Fig.1] Then menu will show.
2) Click Open File(F) on the menu. Then a window will show as
below.

3) You find the subdirectory named by log and double click a file that
you want to open.
4) Every data is sorted by it’s date when measurement was carried.
When file is open write file number in white rectangle and click
button in the [Fig.11]. Or you can go to data by moving up and
down button.

5) But if you don’t know file number, you write name or ID and click
button. Then a dialogue box will show as below.

If there are more than one data by that name or ID, [Fig.12] will

 show. In that case you click (Y) button until you find data you are
looking for. If there is no data that you write in, [Fig.13] will show.
6) When you are reviewing result you can select unit of items for urine
chemistry. If you click unit button, it changes it’s unit as like
[Fig.14] and [Fig.15] below.

7) You should close the file after reviewing and open today’s file by
repeating 1), 2), 3) procedure to keep on testing for today.
[Fig.16] shows you the title of file that is open at the moment.
2001-08-28.log file is open now.

(Note): After you finish reviewing past day’ file, if you carry
measurement without closing the file you opened, results
of that measurement will be added to that file opened.
So don’t forget to close it.

6.2. Data arrangement

If whenever you do measurement with MidiPC V program
open, you don’t have to need data arrangement. Because it’s
data is sorted by it’s date.
But when you carry measurement only with AS720 without
opening MidiPC V program, later you may need data to save
them in your PC.
In that case, you can arrange data at your convenience by
using the buttons of “Delete MidiPC DB”, “Delete AS720 DB”

 and “Upload From AS720” of [Fig.16].

6.3. Delete MidiPC DB :

When you want to delete data which saved in MidiPC V file.
1) If you want to delete more than one sample’s result, you write
the first and last file number in the field of Start and End.
If you want to delete single sample’s result, you just fill in
Start number only.
2) Click “Delete MidiPC DB”.

(Note):
1. If you click “Delete MidiPC DB” without filling in number
that you want to delete, a warning message will show as
below.

2. Even once you use this “Delete MidiPC DB” button, all data
you enter when making list of entries except only ID,
Operator’s number, Lot no.

6.4. Upload From AS720

When you want to upload data from AS720.
1) If you want to upload more than one sample’s result fill in the
first and last sequence number in the field of Start and End.
If you want to upload single sample’s data you just fill in Start
number only
2) Click “Upload From AS720”. Then you can take data you want
from AS720. If you want to upload all data instrument has,
fill in “1” for Start, “9999” for End.

(Note): If you click “Upload From AS720” without write

sequence number, an error message will show as like
[Fig.17]

 6.5. Delete AS720 DB
This function can be used when you want to delete yesterday’s
data from instrument before you start working every day
morning. It can help you manage data easily.
1) Click “Delete AS720 DB”.
Then a confirming message will show as below.

2) Click (Y) to delete it.

7. AS720 control
This function is made for the manufacture or a distributor to
remote control AS720 in case of After Service.
(For users this function is inactivated.)
1) Click button in the field of AS720 control, then monitor of
AS720 will show as below.

While watching this monitor you can remote control AS720 by
clicking keyboard in the field of AS720 Control.

 2) If you want monitor box to disappear, click button or press
Esc key on your PC keyboard.

8. Cautions!
1) You should enter recording (like personal data and microscopic
results) after measurement is finished. Because at the moment
data from instrument being transferred to PC, you can’t enter
data in the file.
2) When you click “Delete AS-720 DB”, you’d better to check if
data you want to delete is saved in your PC.
3) When you open past date’s file to review, you should close the
file after reviewing. If you do urine test with that file open,
today’s results will be saved in the file.
4) Files in this program are sorted by their date measurement is
carried.
So, when you do urine test at the time of changing date, you’d
better to close MidiPC V program and open it again to go on
measuring.
