Introduction
On May 2nd, 2019, Odisha was hit by FANI Cyclone, 2nd most strongest Cyclone to hit
Odisha after Odisha Super Cyclone, 1999. The Cyclone devastated around 10000
Villages and 52 Urban Agglomerations, worst hit was Puri and Mayurbhanj.
Many different communities of the State were severely affected including artisans
fisherman, farmers , the tourism sector etc.From damage to basic infrastructure to
devastation of entire villages, rehabilitation efforts are the urgent need of the effected
people. The importance of housing in the nation is increasing with the increase in the
population of the country resulting in lack of efficient systems of livability.

Aim
Responding to all above issues, this project is a ‘rehabilitation program’ for the
fishermen community who suffered due to the cyclone.

Objectives
• To understand the various needs of the community and the whole cultural, social
and enviornmental context of the community.
• This project would be perceived as a time concern, low cost building system as a
proper solution for areas where there is cyclone vulnerability and at the same
time support the native communal values of the community to familiarize and
move forward with the new site and the system.
• working within the challanges in environmental context, social and cultural
context, economical context and technological context..

Scope
The project would aim at finding solutions for meeting the basic needs to community in
a limited time and money while keeping in mind the eariler context and problems to
bring out better solutions in the design.

Limitations
• Low Construction time is required
• Low cost of Construction
• Highly contextual in terms of social, cultural, economical and technological
context.

Methodology
• Site Visit and Site Synthesis
• Analyzing the site conditions & identifying the opportunities & challenges.
• Framing the requirements of the project undertaken through
A) Literature studies
B) Net & magazines
C) Interviews and Questionaires
• Evaluating the economical aspects of the design
• Evaluating the time aspect of the design
