Download Utility for GE Kelman Products

Service & Factory Logs can be downloaded from Transfix devices, either remotely over a network,
or directly from a Transfix via a USB connection.

It is available within the Perception software


under the Tools Menu:

Using the download utility via Perception

To configure the download, use the menu option “Tools>Download Service Logs..”. The dialog
shown in Figure 2 opens.

It defaults to a network source. Use the top


dropdown to select “USB” if you are at the
Transfix site. The dialog changes to that
shown in Figure 3 on the next page.

For a network source, you have to supply


the IP address and enter the secure POTM
code. To obtain the POTM code, please
contact GE customer services. Enter the
destination folder on your PC, or use the
Browse button (“ “) to navigate to the
destination folder.

When IP address is entered select the
analyser version. If the analyser is Transfix type A/B check the box (serial no. TX1-A000nnn, TX1-
B000nnn or TX1-C000nnn).

For a USB direct connection, you just have to
supply the destination folder on your laptop.
Note: You must use the USB port inside the
Transfix, behind the Control panel.

Installing the standalone download utility

To install the utility, open the zip file and run the executable file. Click Next.

Accept the license terms and click on next.

Create a desktop icon if required and click next,

This will install the utility. If you wish to run it immediately, select Launch KelmanDownload. Click
on Finish.

To run the Download Utility

Open the Utility. Select USB or Network connection.

USB Connection

TRANSFIX 1.0 and TRANSFIX 1.5 (TX1-A000nnn, TX1-B000nnn or TX1-C000nnn) will use the main
USB connection on the TRANSFIX panel. TRANSFIX 1.6 (Serial No TX1-D000nnn), MULTITRANS,
TAPTRANS and MINITRANS will use a mini-USB connection to the USB port on the circuit board
inside the Kelman units.

Connect the PC to the USB port. Click Start.

The program will search for Kelman instruments on the COM ports. When the analyser is found a
message will appear on the screen “Kelman TRANSFIX found on COM#”

Network Connection

Input the IP address and port (default 502) or search local network for devices. When search is
complete, select the required Kelman analyser. If the analyser is Transfix type A/B check the box
(serial no. TX1-A000nnn, TX1-B000nnn or TX1-C000nnn).

For other types of analyser (Transfix Serial No TX1-D000nnn, Multitrans, Taptrans, Minitrans)
network connection requires a password – apply to GE Energy M&D representative for the
Pincode of the Month. Enter Pincode type and Pincode in the appropriate boxes.

Click on Start.

When the instrument is found, the download will start with the measurement records.

The Techlog records will then be downloaded.

The Techlog records will be compressed.

The Techlog file will be stored.

The Download Utility will then create a zip file that contains the measurement data and
the techlog file and place it on the Desktop. You can copy this file and paste it into an e -mail.
Click Exit to close the utility.

Send the zip file to your GE Energy M&D Sales contact and ge4service@ge.com with an
explanation of the problem and the serial number of the Kelman analyser.
