Tools required: Non-magnetic #2 Phillips Head screwdriver

4.1 Installing the IV Pole to the Injector

1. Remove the four mounting screws from the scan room unit top tube, if installed, and place in handle cups. (A set of
mounting screws are also supplied with the IV Pole. Either can be used to mount the IV Pole. Discard unused
screws.)
2. Locate the IV pole vertically on top tube and start the four Phillips screws into the tube through the mounting
bracket holes, starting the top two screws first.
3. Evenly tighten all four mounting screws using a repeated sequence to ensure the IV pole is secured and there are no
gaps between the IV pole mount and the top tube.
4. If installing the single hook IV Pole, install the supplied brass thumb screw loosely in the top mounting clamp. Slide
and adjust the clamp to position the hook to its final desired location. Tighten the thumb screw completely to
secure the clamp and hook to the pole.

4.2 Installing the Fiber Optic Cable and DC Power Cable to the Scan Room Unit
Special care should be taken when routing and connecting the fiber optic cables to ensure:
Q No cable bend radius is less than 1 in. (2.54 cm)
Q Fiber optic connector dust caps are not removed until connections are made
Q Cable does not run across any sharp edges
Q Cable is run across a low traffic area of the floor
Q Established standards for fiber optic cabling installation should be followed if routing through conduit
4 - 12 MEDRAD® MRXperion

NOTE: System installation requires that the suite have a 1.5 inch (3.81 cm) minimum tuned port (either separate
or within the penetration panel) available for connections between the scan room and the control room.

NOTE: Follow all institutional, local, and national safety regulations related to routing cabling on the floor.

1. Raise the orange stand base collar to expose the base cover screws.

2. Remove the two screws that secure the base cover on the side that has the stainless steel plate with a hole and
cutout opening at top. Lift the cover straight up off the base.

3. Remove the two screws that secure the other base cover then remove the cover. Remove and discard the cardboard
shipping insert around the housing. Replace the cover on that side only and reinstall the two screws but do not fully
tighten them. Make sure the two cover alignment pins engage properly with the base casting cover pin holes.
Installation Manual 4 - 13

4. Locate the DC power cable. Route the 45-degree angled connector end of the cable facing left and down (as shown)
through the cutout opening in the stainless steel plate. Connect and secure the DC power cable by tightening the
two connector retention screws using a Phillips Head screwdriver.

5. Route one end of the 40 foot fiber optic cable through the cutout opening in the stainless steel plate with the DC
power cable. Ensure that there is sufficient fiber optic cable inside the housing to meet the fiber optic minimum
bend radius and so the cables are not damaged when connecting to the electronic housing.
6. Remove the protective caps from the fiber optic cable plugs and the base housing fiber optic connectors. Connect
the orange fiber to the TX connector and the blue fiber to the RX connector on the electronic housing.
7. Insert the fiber optic plug into the into the socket and turn the plug body to align the keys. The connector will insert
partially. Turn the spring loaded locking collar to align the locking pins then fully insert the plug then push the
collar down and turn clockwise to lock it.

8. Locate the split strain relief from the unpackaged product materials. Adjust the cables side by side. Close the split
strain relief around both cables, aligning the four alignment pins. Squeeze the split strain relief completely together
and align the flat surface of the strain relief (with the tethered retaining clamp) to the top of the bracket hole
cutout. Push and snap the strain relief in flush to the plate.

NOTE: Do not clamp the strain relief against the cables at this time.
4 - 14 MEDRAD® MRXperion

9. Adjust the fiber optic cable length so that the fiber cable is located to the right side of the electronic housing
against the orange casting, tucked under the top of the orange casting as shown below. Ensure a smooth bend
radius of the individual fiber cables is kept within the base. This will ensure that the cable will fit under the cover
and will not get pinched when the cover is installed.

10. Install the strain relief clamp and tighten against both cables.
11. Verify that the orange internal base fiber optic cable is in place within the casting area and will not get pinched by
the covers. If needed, adjust the cable to ensure it maintains the minimum fiber optic bend radius and will not be
pinched or damaged when the cover is installed.

12. Carefully place the front base cover on top of the housing. Ensure the cover does not pinch the fiber optic cable or
the fiber optic connector strain reliefs under the cover.
13. Align the edges of the two base cover pieces. Align the base plastic cover pins on the underside of the cover piece
with the holes in the casting above the wheels. Slowly lower the cover in place. The cover seam will completely close
when the two base cover pieces are correctly aligned.
Installation Manual 4 - 15

14. Close the remaining seam gap by gently squeezing the covers together. If the gap does not close with gentle
pressure, check and adjust the alignment of the covers and pins with the base as needed. Install the two cover
screws loosely, then secure the base covers by tightening all four cover screws.
15. Slide the stand base collar back into position.
16. Ensure that there are no tight bends in the fiber optic cable. Route the fiber optic and DC power cables together
along the scan room floor to a location on the wall where they may split apart from each other.
17. Secure the floor section of the fiber optic and DC power cables together using harness wrap material or cable tie
wraps, spacing them every 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30cm) apart.
18. Route the DC power cable to the location where the power supply will be mounted. Route the fiber optic cable near
the location where the Fiber Optic Quick Disconnect will be mounted.
19. Route and install the 150 foot blue fiber optic extension cable from the Fiber Optic Quick Disconnect in the scan
room through the tuned port or penetration panel into the control room where the display and Pod will be located.
Locate any excess fiber optic extension cable outside the scan room.
20. Locate, mount, and connect the fiber optic cables to the Fiber Optic Quick Disconnect per the instructions for use
included in the kit (DN-210943).
21. Gather and loop any extra lengths of the 40 foot and 150 foot fiber optic cables. Secure them and place in a
