Unit – IV : DEFLECTION OF BEAMS

type.

Topics 1-4 will be asked in 14 a, and topics 5 and 6 will be asked in 14b. Important topics are
highlighted. In this question sometimes questions from strain energy might not be asked. And
both a, and b will be from beam deflection. So do not skip beam deflection methods. And read
Macaulay’s method compulsorily.Chapters12, 13, 14 and 4 in RK Bansal Text book.

Unit – V : THIN CYLINDERS SPHERES AND THICK CYLINDERS

1. Stresses in Thin Cylindrical Shell due to internal pressure (Circumferential and Longitudinal
Stress) and related problems on stress, change in dimensions.

3. Lame’s Theorem and problems on thick cylinders

All topics may be mixed in both a, and b. This is a very small unit attempt to read fully.
