Rationale / Significance
State the research problem and significance of the proposed study to the current needs of the country. The proposal should clearly discuss
the specific needs/ problems to be addressed The proponent should have a clear understanding of the needs/ problems in the research
area of interest. Benefits of research in the institution shall be discussed.
In the Philippines,The Republic Act No.9710, an Act providing for the Magna Carta of Women,was
enacted by the Senate and House of Representative of the Philippines in Congress on August 2009.Its
Section 2,Declaration of Policy states, “Recognizing that the economic,political,and sociocultural
realities affect women condition,the State affirms the role of women in nation building and ensures
the substantive equality of women and men.”

This research project aimed to determined the participation of women leaders and their political
development in Mercedes,Camarines Norte.

This research deals on the assessment of women leaders along political,social-civic contributions to
society.This study also sought the political participation of the women leaders in the political
development of the municipality of Mercedes along legislative and non-legislative undertakings.

Objectives

Generally, the major objective of the research project is to come up with the involvement in formal
politics.Similarly,the relationship between class and gender considerations in leadership selection in the
Philippines are also recognized.

Specifically, this research project will;

1. Identify the biographic profile of the women leaders along political,social civic contributions to
society.
2. Determine the participation of the women leaders in the political development of the Municipality
of Mercedes,Camarines Norte and selected barangays along Legislative and Non-legislative.
3. Determine the level of participation of the cases in the political development along Legislative and
Non-Legislative.
4. Facilitate the preparation and submission of budget with accuracy, timeliness, standard and
consistency (with approved plans).
5. Identify the programs of Local Government Unit of Mercedes on Gender Equality

The methodology include the methods, procedure and techniques used to collect and analyze information. It should include the research
design, participants and process of selecting sample respondents, validation and reliability of the instrument/s to be used, methods and
data collection, data analysis and procedure and statement how ethical issues will be addressed.

In achieving the purpose of this study,the qualitative research method was used.Qualitative
research is primarily and exploratory research.It is used to gain an understanding of underlying
reasons,opinions,and motivations.It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas.
Qualitative data collection methods vary using unstructured or semi-structured techniques.
Some common methods include focus groups (group discussion),individual interviews,and
participation/observations.The sample size is typically small,and respondents are selected to fulfill
a given quota.In this research undertaking,the individual interview was done.
Qualitative data also consists of open-minded information that the researcher usually gathers
through interviews,focus and observations.The analysis of the qualitative data (words,text or
behaviors)typically follows the path of aggregating it into categories of information and presenting
the diversity of ideas gathered during data collection.

Aside from the result of the survey, Implementation of Local Government Unit of Mercedes on the
Implementation of Republic Act 8760 GAA on Programs/Projects Related to Gender and Development
(GAD).Training/Seminars/Symposium should be conducted addressing women issues and empowerment.
Evaluation of GAD budget in coordination with the GAD concerned persons in the municipality of Mercedes.

Integration with other potential relevant applications which may be developed as an offshoot this projects.
Further researches may also be conducted for further improvement and innovations.
