Emergency Boot Disks Version 02.05.00 2003-11-03

1. General remarks
"Emergency Boot Disks" comprise a bootable DOS operating system and a subset of service menu
functions of the MMC 103 or PCU 50 / 70 basic software.
They first of all serve to load a ghost image (hard disk backup), which is available on an external data
carrier, to the hard disk of an MMC 103 / PCU 50 / 70, in case it is no longer possible to boot from this
hard disk to the service menu.
These disks can be used for the MMC 103 and the PCU 50 / 70 in order to execute a hard disk
backup / restore via Ghost® to / from an external PC. Data are transmitted via parallel cable or, for the
PCU 50 / 70, also via network connection.
The service menu is available in English only.
The functions are described in detail under "Starting Up HMI Advanced (IM4)".

2. Functional extensions in V02.05.00 compared to V02.04.xx

 EMM386 replaced by UMBPCI and LOWDMA. Booting from USB floppy disk drive is
thus executed at an acceptable speed.
 Fixed RAM drive Z:, therefore no need for temporary file on installation medium.
 A: no longer expected as boot drive (USB floppy, CD drive).
 Reading in (if available on 3rd floppy) or saving of NETINI.BAT.
 GhostIni.bat: “Default connection” is LOCAL/NETWORK (instead of PARALLEL).
 NETINI.BAT: Default protocol is “TCP/IP with DHCP” (instead of NETBEUI).
 Error during loading / deleting of Ghost when menu already running on RAM drive.
 “Configure GHOST parameters” has new item 8: “Load additional drivers” (so far CD
only).
 Ghost image can also be read from (IDE) CD or even burnt (in case of CDRW).

3. Important notes
 Backup / restore of WinXP systems is possible with Ghost 7.5 only.
 After a backup with Ghost 7.5, a CRC check of the backup will not be possible.
 Version 02.05.00 supports in principle a directly connected CD-R or CD-RW drive
(menu item: “Load additional drivers”. This functionality has, however, not been released for
MMC 103 and PCU 50 / 70.

4. Creating disks from the CD supplied or after download from eSupport

You will require three empty, formatted and faultless 3.5" disks.
By calling batch file EBOOT.BAT under path CD:\SW_2_5_0 or after unpacking the self-extracting file
from eSupport, the disks are created with an operating guide in English.

5. Booting from the emergency boot disks

These boot disks can be used for the MMC 103 and the PCU 50 / 70 with floppy disk drive only. To do
so, you have to enable booting from disk in the BIOS of the MMC 103 or the PCU 50 / 70. You will
then have to insert the first disk and switch the MMC 103 / PCU 50 / 70 off / on. Insertion of the other
two disks will be prompted by the software. After read-in of the third disk, the service menu will be
displayed. The disks will no longer be required for using the service menu functions.

6. Documentation on the CD supplied

In order to be able to read the PDF files on the CD, you may need to install the Acrobat reader from
“AR405ENG.EXE”.
To do so, proceed as follows:
– Execute program “AR405ENG.EXE” and
– follow the instructions of the installation program.
