Subject: Surge Analysis of Two Pumping Stations

With reference to your e-mail dated July 18, 2017 the detail is given hereunder:

1. We will use AFT Impulse 5 for the subject surge analysis.

2. The time period required for the subject surge analysis will be 45 working
days subject to availability of all data from the Client.
3. The lump sum cost to perform the surge analysis will be USD 14,500.
4. Following data is required from the Client for the subject Surge Analysi:
 Drawing of the pumping station with elevation levels of suction point
elevation, pump centre line elevation, discharge header elevation
 Complete profile of the pipeline showing invert levels
 Characteristic curve of the pumps showing flowrate, head developed,
NPSH required, power absorbed, efficiency etc.
 All the valves, fittings and instruments in the line, their location and
characteristics from the manufacturer.
 The data sheet of the pump and motor showing inertia of the pump and
motor
 All the cases on which surge analysis has to be performed.

CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR FEASIBILITY STUDY OF PUNJAB CHINA

ECONOMIC ZONE ON MOTORWAY M-2
Technical and Financial Proposal –Mechanical Works
1. APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
i. Introduction
The feasibility will include study of financially and technically viable option for
establishment of independent power generation facility to meet power requirements
of the Economic Zones. The study will also include the selection of pumping units
and piping material for water supply and disposal of the sewerage. The Study will
develop feasibility level design for major equipment and systems of the power splant
and pumping station with the accompanying economic, financial and environmental
evaluation of prospective variants.
ii. Data Collection/Evaluation
The Project activities will be initiated with the collection of data / reports and survey
maps which relate to the Project and Project area. After review of available data/
reports, etc. a field visit to the Project area will be made by the Consultant’s team of
experts / engineers, consisting of power plant expert, survey engineer, power plant
engineer and electrical / mechanical experts to carry out reconnaissance of Project
area. During the site reconnaissance, the team will make their own assessments/
findings, keeping in their mind the existing available information / data.
iii. Basic Parameters & Guidelines
Basic assumptions, guidelines and design criteria shall be established for evaluating
and developing final project parameters regarding mechanical equipment. Extent of
work required for Mechanical equipment/systems will be evaluated for operation,
capacity and structural conditions undertaken on the basis of internationally
recognized standards, design norms and Consultants’ previous experience on similar
projects.
iv. Identification of Technical Plant Concept
The Consultant will assess the needs and requirements of the project for selection of
a suitable power generation technology from the available options viz. combined
cycle power plant, steam power plant, gas engine power plant and renewable energy
power generation. Identification of the optimum plant configuration and variants for
the plant volume, temperature, pressure, flows, rating of equipment and systems will
be done.
v. Pumping and Piping
The feasibility report will include the study for selection of materials for piping, valves,
pumps and other mechanical equipment for water supply and disposal. The study will
also include selection of best pump types considering the flowrate, design head,
NPSH, motor rating etc.
Various alternatives will be studied with cost estimates, advantages and
disadvantages of each of the options proposed and recommendations for selection of
the best option taking into account the available data and experience. Information will
also be collected from major manufacturers of mechanical equipment to incorporate
their ideas for selection and availability of requisite equipment.
vi. Cost Estimate
Input for cost estimate based on current market rates will be prepared. Full
consideration will be given to contingencies and site conditions etc. Correspondence

will be done with various manufacturers of mechanical equipment for power plant and
pumping station to determine the availability of requisite equipment in the market and
its budgetary prices.
2. ESTIMATED MAN MONTHS

and our previous experience on similar projects is as follows.
a. Adjacent to Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park (3400 Acres)

Position Grade Man-Months

Chief Engineer 12 4.0

Senior Engineer 09 6.0

Junior Engineer 08 (a) 6.0

Associate Engineer 09 3.0

b. Kot Sarwar Interchange (4300 Acres)

Position Grade Man-Months

Chief Engineer 12 4.0

Senior Engineer 09 6.0

Junior Engineer 08 (a) 6.0

Associate Engineer 09 3.0

3. DIRECT COST
Direct cost including cost of printing, stationery, communication and hardware resources,
TA/DA of staff as per company rules, cost of travelling, staff communication etc. will be
charged as per actual.
We may mention that P&M Division’s input for feasibility study will be provided from Head
Office, Lahore i.e. deployment of our design team in other offices in Pakistan is not
envisaged.
