Title of the Article : Taking Responsibility

I have chosen this “Taking Responsibility” article because I found this article
related to today’s problematical issue which refers to the environmental problems. We
can see that in this period of time, people tend to do anything for their personal
interests, without considering what the impacts are. They also tend to neglect their
responsibilities that they hold and just keep focusing on what they want to achieve. This
article successfully attracted me because the contents of this article bravely remind us
about the responsibility that we have to implement in our life.

This article tells us about the habits of the people in this current generation that
do not implement the responsibility upon their dependency to the environment. People
do exploit the natural resources without implementing the sustainable development, like
eliminating the population of animals, decimating fish populations, and clear-cutting
millions of hectares of rainforest without doing the reforestation. They actually know
that their irresponsible habits are obviously wrong, but they keep doing those habits
anyway because there is a profit to be made, and that comes first.

From this article, I can see that the writer’s purpose in writing this article is to
remind us that everyone living has the responsibility of leaving the planet in a condition
that is acceptable to those who will inherit our environmental assets as well as our
planetary liabilities. The writer also aims to make us realize that disregarding people
who are irresponsible to the environment and continuing to increase our use of and
dependence upon fossil fuels, which are killing the planet, is a fairly serviceable
definition of insanity.
 In conclusion, we know that to fulfill our daily needs in this life, we cannot
refuse that we certainly depend on the environment. But we have to remember that we
are also responsible to keep the existence of the environment, so that the future
generation will be able to enjoy the environment too. There are so many ways to
implement our responsibility in our life, either by doing preventive, coercive, or even
rehabilitative methods. We as the current generation prepared for the future have to be
wise to create the better environment soon. Applying the alternative sources exist like
hydrogen, wave, tidal, geothermal, wind, solar, and other absolutely clean energy forms
is the one thing which is also a part of our responsibility. It’s not impossible for us to
bring this country to a better future, because everything can start from a little thing.
