【Balancing interval】

Balancing is not necessary for 10 years or 70,000 hours if the impeller and/or turbine

blades are not damaged. However, check the rotor balancing when unusual noise

and/or vibration occurred while driving.

【Balancing on compressor side】

Correct only unit balance of impeller when some wear on blades of impeller are caused

or after touching up the hitting trace. (Refer to the following pages)

【Turbine side】

Correct only unit balance of the rotor shaft (with blades) when some wears are observed

on the turbine blades or after touching up the hitting trace.

・Balancing correction is necessary when the blades are replanted.

・When the tip is processed to touch up the flaws caused by the contact etc, unit (with

rotor shaft blade) balancing correction is necessary.

・When the turbine blades rattle during balancing, fix them using adhesive agent (or

LOCTITE), (Any brand can be used, if it can fix the blades).

1
Balancing procedure

1. Unbalance check
Correction is not necessary any more when amount of unbalance is within the
allowable range indicated in the attached “Balancing Standard” (Grade of proper
balance: G6.3) after cleaning impeller, rotor or turbine blades.
① Clean the rotor shaft and impeller wheels, and remove dirt and foreign substances
completely.
② Unbalance check
Note 1) Tighten the impeller at the specified pressure.
Note 2) Check the vibration of rotor with a dial gauge
(Vibration of the rotor < 0.1mm)

Do not correct
the balancing for
completed rotor.

CASE 1
Procedure 1: Correct single unit balance of the impeller so as to meet the values in
the allowable range indicated in the attached “Balancing standard”

Target
Grade of proper balance

G 2.5

Procedure 2: Correct single unit balance of the rotor shaft (with blades) so as to
meet the values in the allowable range indicated in the attached
“Balancing standard”

Target
Grade of proper balance

G 2.5

Procedure 3: After above procedures, check whole balance according to the

unbalance check indicated in page 2. If the balance is not within the
allowable range, disassemble the completed rotor (the rotor with blades,
impeller) and repeat the procedures No.1 to No3 until meeting the values
in the allowable range.

Target
Grade of proper balance

G 6.3

4
CASE 2
Procedure 1: Single unit balancing is not necessary for a new impeller.
Do not correct balance.

NEW

Do not correct balance.

Procedure 2: Correct single unit balance of the rotor shaft (with blades) so as to
meet the values in the allowable range indicated in the attached
“Balancing standard”

Target
Grade of proper balance

G 2.5

Procedure 3: After above procedures, check overall balance according to the

unbalance check indicated in page 2. If the balance is not within the
allowable range, disassemble the completed rotor (the rotor with blades,
impeller) and repeat the procedures No.2 to No3 until meeting the values
in the allowable range.

CASE 3 1/2
Procedure 1: Single unit balancing is not necessary for a new rotor (with blades).
Do not correct balance.

Procedure 2: Mount the impeller to the rotor shaft.

Procedure 3: Push the impeller wheel using a hydraulic jack with 40kg/cm2 pressure
or less so that the touch surfaces of the claw clutch in axial direction
contact each other. After that loosen the nut once, and then tighten
it manually again. (Do not apply hydraulic pressure after manual
tightening.)

Procedure 5: Change setting of the balancing machine to the overhang mode, and
correct unbalance of impeller only.
