Phonics
Play the CD and have pupils listen and point the first time.
Play the CD again and have pupils listen, point and repeat.
Ask pupils to work in pairs to find examples of /s/ and /z/ in the
story. They listen to the CD (Track 16) again to check their

Distinguish the sound
Post-Lesson Pupils listen to a chant and circle the /s/ sounds with red, the /z/ Formative Assessment
sounds with blue and /ɪz/ sounds with green. Quick Scan
