A.B. Combs Families,

What a year of learning and growing together 2019 has been! As the winter break nears we
wanted to pass on some important information:

• No school December 21-January 5

• Inaugural Ball January 16th
• Second semester begins January 28th

Regarding holiday observances and celebrations, please know that our primary focus during
valuable school hours is to help your child grow academically and reach their personal goals. In
order to reach those targets, all activities that occur during the school day remain curriculum-
focused. Our staff do an excellent job at making curriculum come to life through fun and
engaging activities, but be assured that all have an academic purpose. We take our role as
guiding your child toward their optimal growth as our joy and responsibility and will have
valuable instruction planned through the last day before winter break. So your child can receive
all the opportunities to learn, we respectfully ask to encourage strong attendance throughout
December and help your child arrive on time so they are prepared for the amazing things our
staff prepare every day. We love your children and work very hard to meet their needs from bell
to bell!

Honoring our commitment to equity, all holiday learning will also address the cultures and
traditions of the global community we are gifted with at Combs. Holiday celebrations of
different lands are such an enjoyable way to learn about the cultures that many of us have not
personally experienced. We appreciate the cultural contributions that so many of you have
already shared and please let your child’s teacher know if this is something you would be willing
to do in the spring.

Our school is a shining place of learning thanks to all of you and your amazing children! Each of
you are an important part of the Combs family and we hope you have an opportunity over the
break to spend time with loved ones and doing all the things that Sharpen Your Saws! Take
time to read together, notice the Science in nature around you, and explore your incredible
interests.

We can’t wait to start 2020 with full vision of all the amazing talents inside each Combs Gator!
