Symposium on Inspiring Learners in their Science Investigatory Projects

July 17, 2019

TRAINING DESIGN

INTRODUCTION
Scientific research brings together observations, knowledge and data to solve
problems, invent solutions and develop new products. This applied science allows
individuals to test information by transforming abstract theories into practical learning.
Scientific research is an objective method to prove a hypothesis, claim or
observation. Unlike relying on mental processes or group reasoning, research methods
are not restricted by the limits of critical thinking, biased discussion or personal opinions.
For that, there are some hindrances faced by learners in doing scientific research
specifically, the writing of Science Investigatory Project (SIP). There are limited
resources in teaching how to write SIP. Aside from financial aspects, there are many
other factors that impede learners in the making of SIP.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the symposium, participants are expected to:
1. Develop scientific literacy among learners.
2. Enhance learners’ learnings about Science Investigatory Projects.
3. Deeper their appreciation about scientific writing.

EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS:
Grade 9 and 10 section SSC students

OUTPUT:
Learners are inspired in writing their Science Investigatory Project. Grade 9
students could formulate problems and start writing chapter 1 – 3. Students from grade
10 are prepared in their participation to different contests regarding SIP.
