Total Marks: 4
Sprint Time: 3 mins Q1. Find the mean, mode and median of the
following frequency distribution :
Frequency : 4 4 7 10 12 8 5
SOLUTION
To find the mean let us put the data in the table given below.
Class Frequency (fi) Class mark (xi) f ix i
0-10 4 5 20
10-20 4 15 60
20-30 7 25 175
30-40 10 35 350
40-50 12 45 540
50-60 8 55 440
60-70 5 65 325
Total Σfi = 50
SOLUTION
To find the mean let us put the data in the table given below.
Class Frequency (fi) Cumulative
frequency (c.f.)
0-10 4 4
10-20 4 8
20-30 7 15
30-40 10 25
40-50 12 37
50-60 8 45
60-70 5 50
Total N = Σfi = 50
SOLUTION
Total Marks: 4
Q2. During the medical check-up of 35
Time in Exam: 4 - 6 mins students of a class their weights were
recorded as follows:
Sprint Time: 3 mins
Weight (in. kg.) 38-40 40-42 42-44 44-46 46-48 48-50 50-52
No. of students 3 2 4 5 14 4 3
Draw a less than type and a more than type ogive from the given data.Hence obtain the median
weight from the graph.
SOLUTION
Then, we plot the points (38,35), (40,32),(42,30), (44,26),(46,21),(48,7), (50,3) on the same
axes. By joining these points with a smooth curve to get ‘more than’ ogive. Since, the two
curves intersect at the point, whose abscissa is 47 (approx). Hence, the required median
weight is 47 kg (approx.).

Q3. Draw a less than type cumulative
Time in Exam: 4 - 6 mins frequency curve for the following data and
Sprint Time: 3 mins
from the graph find the median :
SOLUTION
SOLUTION
Now, taking upper class limits on x-axis and their respective frequencies on y-axis we can
draw its ogive as follows:
SOLUTION
Total Marks: 4
Frequency f1 5 9 12 f2 3 2 40

Sprint Time: 3 mins Q5. Draw ‘more than’ ogive of the following
distribution:
Number of 40 50 60 30 20
workers
SOLUTION
Now, taking lower class limits on x-axis and their respective frequency on y-axis we can
draw its ogive as follows.
Total Marks: 4
Daily Wages (in. 100-120 120-140 140-160 160-180 180-200 200-220 220-240
Rs.)
Number of 10 15 20 22 18 12 13
workers
Compute the mean daily wages and modal daily wages of these workers.
SOLUTION
Here
100-120 10
120-140 15
140-160 20 f0
160-180 22 f1
180-200 18 f2
200-220 12
220-240 13
Following data represent the marks obtained by the 100
students of class.
Draw both ogive for the given above. Also find the median of
the data with the help of the graph.
Number of 4 6 10 40 25 22 18 5
